I ordered my tires today.

245/40/18 and 275/40/18

The sidewall is only a little shorter than the stock 17" tire (50 profile I think), so it won't mess with the TCS or anything and also won't 'create' wheel gap like the 35s would. I am dropping .7" & .6" (S Tech), so 35s would still have significant wheel gap. I also wanted to have *some* comfort preserved as I do daily drive my Z and the roads here are far from pristine.

I would have got 255/40 for the front but they do not make Falken 452s in 255/40.

Good choice my man!! You wont be dissapointed!! Those sizes will look mean... Glad to see you didnt go with the 35 profile... Would have had more gap with it dropped then you do stock...

Congrats

QSZ33, after talking to Don@Tire Option I realized that it is likely going to look funny if you go 40 & 35 series. The sidewall between the 35 and 40 series could be nearly an inch different. Now it does depend some on the tire size (245 vs 275) but likely won't look right. If you want conservative and you are lowering .5-.7 or so, then 40 all around. If you are lowering 1-1.2" then 35 all around. Keep in mind the 35 has less sidewall, and will be less forgiving and a slightly rougher ride than the 40 (which is rougher than the stock 50 sidewall). I think the difference on my 452s between stock sidewall height (OEM 17"s) and the 40 sidewall height was only .3-.5 inches.

Check Falken's website for your dimensions. The sidewall height difference between OEM and your new tires will make your decision easier. Also the difference between 245/40 and 275/35.

according to the tire calculater, the 275/35 and 245/40 have less than a 2 mm height difference...I would go with 452's but Im serching for a track tire with 140 treadwear or better....they will not be daily driven

thanks for the the help...

also...Im going with a 1.2 inch drop

The front of the Z is a little lower than the rear anyway, so a difference between 245 and 275 I should think would not be noticable. On the 35 series there is less difference from front to back, but at the same time its a much shorter tire and you would have to lower that much extra to make up the distance.

Yep. I was going to go Tanabe but '03 suspension + Tanabe = bump stops a lot. Eventually when I get new shocks I might swap over to the GF210s. But problem is we have snow here. I DD my Z, so a dropped Z in the snow (even with snow tires?). Not recommended. I could have gotten a beater with the money it cost to get wheels + tires + springs etc. Priorities haha.

35 series on a 1 / 1.2" drop is certainly fine and will look good. I was speaking from a Tein S tech standpoint, .6 / .7" (said to be .75" all around though). I think you got your GF210 springs backwards though...front is 1.2" and rear is 1.0" if I am correct on that.
