Default Tire Size Question

Wheel Size:

18 x 9.5
18 x 10.5

+22

I want to run Azenis 615's and these are the only sizes available:

275/35/18 rear
255/40/18 or 265/35/18 for the front

I want to keep the same sidewall height and stretch(not really looking for stretch, but thats what I'll call it for now) front to rear

My question is would I be better off with a 255/40 or a 265/35 for the front tire size...
Any info is greatly appreciated...

Thanks

The front tires are taller than the rear. Is that the look you are going for?

^^ I agree...

Either of the front sizes will work, but the rear size is too short (OD). I would suggest considering another brand.

I would go with a

255/40/18 front
275/40/18 rear

I take it your looking for an affordable tire? Nothing to crazy with decent tread wear?

You can go with the TOYO T1R or Falken for a reasonable price. I would go wider in the rear and keep a similar size in the diamater of the tires the 275/35/18 is an inch smaller in diamater then the stock for the rear...

Here is a good website with great prices

Thanks for the info...

Price/treadware is not important....my goal is to find a track tire with very good dry pavement traction characteristics...

Just looked at the dunlop direzza z1's......

255/35/18 and 275/35/18

Anyone know how the 615's and the direzza z1's compare?

TRUST ME!! Those tires have too small of a sidewall for an 18 inch rim it will look bad IMO... unless your dropped on the ground!!

Here are the specs stock Vs. your tire size choices....

stock track Z
Front= 26.3 inches (225/45/18)
Rear= 26.7 inches (245/45/18)

Your tire choices
Front= 25 Inches (255/35/18) OVERALL 1.3 inches smaller in diamater
Rear= 25.6 Inches (275/35/18) Overall close to an inch smaller in diamater

If you want a low profile tire to look appropriate on the Z with the large wheel wells that the Z has you NEED a 19 inch rim....

Look at my car domain page below that diamater of the 19 Inch rim/tire combo I have on is the same size that I am recommending for you in an 18 inch you will need a 40 series profile to get the same height as the 35 series profile in a 19 inch.

Same deal here .. Falken 452s do not come in 255/40. I can find the 275/40 for sure, but not the front. I don't know how to setup either - 35 both F R or 40 both F R, or 35 F 40 R? I am thinking 35F /40R mainly because a) 452s aren't in 255/40 size, but b) I can get the 275/40 in the rear to help prevent gap. I am lowering on S Tech (18x9" and 18x10" wheel, +25 offset).

What about a 265/35/18 for the front and a 275/40/18 rear? I think that would work for diamater wise off the top of my head.... Do they have those tire sizes for the front?

Well the 265/35/18 is only around a 1/2 inch smaller then the stock size so it wouldnt look too bad.... You can try a 245/40/18 if they have that which would be a little closer to stock size...

I wouldn't have clearance issues on the fender with a 265? I am not slamming or anything but I really don't know.

I ran a 265/30/19 on the front a couple years ago and I am lowered on Tanabes 1.2inch drop or so and NO clearance issues.... Your good to go!

265/35-18 on the front is slightly shorter than stock height, so this will fit and not rub.

Since your front wheels turn, the front fenders must have more clearance than rear fenders (where you have a “tucked” arrangement). You can go too wide on your rears and experience rubbing. That’s why guys roll the rear fenders (to fit a wider tire).

Width isn’t important on the front, as far as clearance is concerned, but tire height is. If your front tire height is too tall, you could possibly rub while turning (when the car leans or the suspension travel reaches maximum). But, rubbing on the front would only happen with an excessively tall tire, and the tire’s width isn’t a factor.

There are possible issues when going too wide in the front:

1) Sandblasting the paint on the car’s side panels when the tire’s tread extends outside the wheelwell.

2) Bump-steer and poor straight-line tracking when the front tires’ width exceeds the car’s suspension geometry.

If you want to run the 615'a , get 265/35 front and 275/35 rears. Also check the Kumho Exta MX's. If your wheels setup is track only , look at NT01's. 275/35 front and 275/40 rear.

for the nt01's...a 245/40 would be to small on a 9.5 rim?
