im browsing through craigslist and i see these wheels. i dont know much about rims and tires and im trying to completely understand the term "offset". should i bother calling the guy about these wheels and what things should i be aware of and ask?

You'll need to know the widths and offsets. The offset is a number that gauges how far from the middle of the rim the mounting point is.
