Default Brake Light and ABS Light Question

I bought a set of Volk GT-7 about a year ago 19x9.5 (245-35-19) front and 20X10.5 (275-35-20) rear. I had the rear tires replaced Friday with Nitto 555 DR (305-35-20) now I have a Brake Light on and an ABS Light on. It has never come on before. Is there a sensor the tires could be throwing off? I tool it back to the shop and the owner said it was a sensor that needed to be reset. Of course he didn’t know how to do it. I don't understand why it would do it now and not with the other tires.

I have a 06 Base if it matters.

Thanks for any help.

Interesting situation. The rear tires are 67.40 mm taller than the front. You have no TCS or VDC computer to reckon with. Is it possible that the ABS computer cannot cope with such a great difference?

The stock rear tire height is 26.7" (Overall Diameter)

Your rear tire height is significantly greater than the stock height. That will certainly “fool” the car’s electronics. I realize that you do not have VDC or TCS, but you do have ABS (which will not tolerate such a “violation” on tire size).

You should mount tires that are sized correctly and match the Z’s electronics.

Thanks Guys. Is there any way to reprogram the light? What if I buy new front tires?

^^ You cannot “reprogram” the warning light. All you can do is install tires with the correct overall diameter:

OEM Bridgestones Potenza RE040
225/45 ZR18 25.9" (Overall Diameter)
245/45 ZR18 26.7" (Overall Diameter)

225/45 ZR18 101mm/3.9” (Sidewall Height)
245/45 ZR18 110mm/4.3” (Sidewall Height)

245/35 ZR19 25.8" (Overall Diameter)
275/35 ZR18 26.6" (Overall Diameter)
