Default Stock tires losing pressure

Guys,

My stock 17 inch rear tires lose pressure after a week (even faster if I don't drive it). The thread looks good.

Any idea how I can troubleshoot it?

I am planning to take them off the car and visually check them. If I don't see any hole, I am going to drop it to a bucket of water.

Can the sensor /valve cause the leak or is a sign for me not to ride on the stocks any more (Sold my volks ).

Thanks,
Tony

Soapy water - squirt it around all the potential leaky areas - bead, valve, etc.

a. Tighten the valve stem
b. Fill to 40 PSI
c. Put it in the bathtub.

Submerge it in water or spray soapy water like mentioned earlier. This route is easier, as you don't have to remove the wheel, but you must move the car forward/backward to get the full tire sprayed.

Can I tighten from the outside? I am not sure.

Thanks,

Yes, the TPMS stem has a nut on the outside that tightens. Be careful, the seal is provided by an O-ring on the inside. Tighten it too much and you could cut or damage the O-ring making the leak worse.

I had the same problem, had the dealer check it out while doing my oil change and they patched it up for free.

Yes. I meant the plunger and spring assembly inside the valve stem. The one that allows air in when the plunger is depressed, and seals the valve when released.
