Default 275/35/19 vs 275/40/19

I currently have 275/35/19's in the rear of my G. Stock, it came with 245/40/19's Note that the 275's are not on the stock wheels, I got new wheels when I got the larger tires (10.5 wide with the 275's)

I need new rears, and the FK-452's, in 275/35/19 are about $290 per tire, depending on which internet site you look at, but they are all around there (at least that I have found) However, 275/40/19's are $190, which is obviously $100 less per tire. How much difference on my speedo will that make, and is it something i really need to worry about? Will it cause my VDC to have some serious heartburn? (note, when I track my G, I use seperate race tires, so no worries there)

If you are running a 245/35-19 in the front and a 40 in the rear the variance will make your VDC go nuts cause it will think the tires are slipping all the time. I have the Falken 452's on my car in 275/35-19 and they seem to be pretty good. Not sure I would want a 40, they would be huge...

Yeah, they are 245/35/19 in the front. Oh well, would have been nice to save $200, but I guess not.

Jim is correct The 40 series would be an inch taller than the 35 series, and would drive the electronics nuts. In addition it would look funny and negatively impact the handling of the car. Don't do it!

You've been a member for 4 1/2 years and do not know how to use a tire calculator. I tell you that shows a lack of respect for other members courtesy and time.

What?!?!

I've concerned myself with other things, like engine, handling (race tires, not street tires), audio and electronics. Never got into tire sizing.

Go f yourself. How's that for lack of respect.

For everyone else, thanks for the help.

i have owned both of the above stated sizes, i did the math and looked
up spec sheets on both sizes compared to stock, the 275/40 was 1.4 inches
taller than my stock 265/35/19 and the 275/35 was only .1 bigger, i ran
the big tires for about 10k miles, they were not too bad for daily driving
but did not like for performance driving situations.

i am currently running toyo t1-r for the street and falken rt-615 for the track
both are very inexpensive compared to other brands i have tried

I run FK-452's street (as I said) and Toyo R888's on the track. I had the T1R's at one point, didn't like them. Too moisy for me.

Thanks for the information.
