Default I want new wheels. Am I in over my head?

I have the Enthusiast 2003 Model. Stock 17" wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS 235/50/17 on all four. My new job gives me a slight connection for a package. I would like to bump up to 18" or 19" wheels but have never owned a sports car before. This is my daily driver, no racing or excessive cornering at high speeds. So please help me with offsets and tire size. I know most people run different offset front/rear as well as different tire sizes. Any advice would be appreaciated. Oh, with my connection I'm trying to keep it to $1500 or less for the package. I beleive I get 15-20% off-ish.

B.) If I am in too deep with price, point me in the direction of sway bars or other cheaper modifications. I already have the Pop Charger. Any good chips out there? I donno, got some money and want to spend it on my car. Thanks fellas.

You could probably pick up a package for that price although they will be cheaper wheels. Most people on here push Volk/Work wheels (with good reason), but you will be well over $3K that route.

Sways are a good investment, there are many brands - Cusco, Hotchkis, etc. Stay away from chips - they wont do anything but lighten your wallet. I suggest suspension work with that kind of money. A set of coilovers or start with your sway bars. Even if you do get wheels the car will be begging to be lowered anyways. I say lower first and do some good suspension mods you can enjoy now, and save up until you can buy some proper wheels...

The car is low enough for me as is. I actually wasn't planning to lower it even if I do switch to 18's. I may keep this car another 2-3 years and the wheels were the last large modification I was going to make. So, if I really don't have enough for wheels then I'll look into the sway bars. Aside from suspension work, I dont want it any lower than it is. Smoother ride? Yes. If better handling is capable with my price range, I don't doubt it could be better but it's ok for me as is, then sure.

I know I'm going to catch flak for this, but you may want to look into Rotas.

http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/ind...16_118_218_120

They are of decent quality, break only if hit hard enough (like most other wheels), and if they do break, they are much cheaper to replace.

Spend less on the rims, and get better tyres.

P.S. Sway bars is a good upgrade.

Wow, way to be an ***? My questions of offsets were never answered nor did I ask specifics like I am now. I am asking for a good daily driver setup. Either help me or get out.

Call Wheeldude, he used to run specials in wheel/tire packages, I don't remember exact specs, but I do recall you'd get a decent amount of rubber around your wheels.

I wont have enough money to lower it and all the rest if I spend all of my $1500 or so. So if sways are a great mod like you say I should prolly just look into them.

springs ~250 new 175 used
Sways ~350-400 new 250used
Rotas ~900
I have a local tire guy that I get used tires off of wrecked cars with like 3k miles on them for cheap
I got RE50 275R and 255F for 150 installed.

Its all about bang for the buck
