Default Trying to help my friend.

A friend of mine (lets call him Rob) is looking into purchasing a 350Z within a year. He is already starting to plan out what he'll do with the car right off the bat. He has been looking at different wheels and seems to be reallytrying to keep costs down. He has been looking at wheels like Tenzo Rs and Io have been trying to talk him out of it because to me they are kind of ricey and a Z deserves better.

Do you guys have any sugestions that I could run by him that would be a nice wheel but keep costs down.

Thanks

First off, with a new Z about to be released, "Rob" would be well-advised to wait a year and let resale prices on our 350Zs drop again. As for wheels, BBS and Enkei make some nice wheels that are known for holding up well. They do appear on the classifieds board here from time-to-time and that's what I'd suggest he INVEST in (vs. throwing away $$ on cheap wheels).

Rob could always take the money he saved by waiting for the 370 to come out and the price drop on the 350's and put that wil the wheel fund he has already and maybe even get some used volk's.

Waiting till the 370Z comes out wont drop value too much on 03 or 04 models however we are both in Sales so we buy them wholesale.

If he has everything planned out from day one it makes more sense. In the past I have had all my mods planned out and here so that they can be installed during the PDI. In his case witha used vehicle it is better to know what wheels he wants so that if it needs tires he can just order the new wheels and tires at the same time.

Since it sometimes takes some time for a nice Z to come in on trade he is not in a panic.

But a plan never hurts I have seen a lot of poeple on this board do wheels without lowering their car. If that had planned things out and make sure all the parts are available it ensures things are done right.

Also used wheels don't make tons of sense given I have wholesale accounts with distributers. Eg. I paid what guys sell used Volks for but got them new.

Well I definitley know where your coming from.. Its always smart to have a plan before. If your gonna do it do it right... Just the idea of a list of mods for a Z without the Z sitting in the garage is kinda funny but if he is getting 100% percent and its just a matter of time before he gets it then sounds like a good plan. Thanks for explaining yourself buddy.. I was just givin ya a hard time...

But hey if you ever wanna help me out with getting a huge discount on some volks I'd be very happy

No worries. Just wanted everyone to know where he is coming from. In the end I think he'll do the right thing and get a decent set off wheels. I just wanted him to see that I am not the only one to think this way.

I am a bit of a snob with wheels. My thought is with cheaper wheels I would rather the OEM ones. I have enjoyed my Volks and we have also done a lot of HREs on different cars. Even some ROH modenas which were and OK wheel. Although most ROHs are very ugly.

He also understands how important Offsets are with the ultimate look and fitment of the wheel.

Thanks guys the feedback is good.

Just curious. Does "Rob" not have internet access that he could not come on here and ask the questions himself.

He doesn't really like forums. However I find them extremely helpful especially when I was picking offsets for my GT-Cs.

Who knows "Rob" may join when he actually is a Z owner.
