225/45/18 on a 18x9.5 wheel????
Well, I have a set of wheels that I want to put on but don't know if the tires I have now will fit. I have the stock 225/45/18 tires and was thinking about putting them on my 18x9.5 wheel up front.
Has anyone done this before???
Do you guys think it will work or look stupid?
Pictures would help if you guys are running this set up.
Please help...
Thanks in advance!!

I would not do that (225/45-18" tire on a 18x9.5" wheel). You are an inch past manufacturer's specifications. It probably would no look awful (but it will be really stretched).
The potential problems are rounded tread (no matter what psi you use) and possibly bead-break during hard cornering.
I wouldn't do it unless you are fine with very conservative driving.

The tire size is 225/45-18, and it's maximum wheel width for fitment is 8.5". It's physically possible to mount this tire (a 225/45-18") on a wheel that is 9.5" wide, but you probably don't want to do this. the 225/45-18" tire will look stretched on a 8.5" wide wheel, and totally stupid on a 9.5" wide wheel.

4. get the right size tire for the wheel. if you do not know what you are doing (you post answers that) go to your local tire dealer and talk to them.

lol.... I'm getting mixed feelings from everyone. I understand it's going to be stretched and my car is a weekend car anyway so not going to put that many miles on them.
I was going to put on some 18" wheels for daily driving so I don't curb or damage my $3k wheels.
I'll keep everyone posted on what I decide to do but for now if anyone can find a picture that would help greatly.
Thanks for all the reply!!!

I realize you are asking here so that you don't do the wrong thing. So to answer your question... don't put that tire on there. I'm running a 255/35/18 up front and a 275/35/18 rear. I am lowered 1" all around though, so if you're running stock suspension then go with something like a 255/40/18 and 275/40/18.
^^ I agree with your comments and suggestions.
You said: "...but if your car is "weekend car" then why do you need a daily driving set?"
I would ask the same question. He says that it is a "weekend car," but then says he needs a "daily-driver-wheel setup" because he is concerned about damage to his 3K wheels.
I may have missed something here.

^^ OK… I get it now.
So… if the wheels are only for shows, you might want to mount the 225’s. Renegade setups get more attention at shows, so that setup (that is stretched to the extreme) might gain the audience you want. Any way it won’t go flat just sitting there.
