Default 225/45/18 on stock rear help?

I have the premium 18" wheels on my Z.. (The chrome 5 spoked)
Anyways i was wondering if i could stretch out some 225/45/18 on the rear?
Any problems i might run into..Is it even possible?

I've got the same wheels and I think mine are all 8j and since the size you're asking about is the same as the front, I don't see a problem.

why do you want to run narrower than stock on rear?

225's all around on STOCK suspension makes the car super neutral. Personally I loved it.

I recently installed the Hotchkis TVS kit with the front and rear bars in the 2nd hole from the ends and the car is MUCH more neutral. It's on the verge of being an oversteering car now. It's not dangerous so I'm going to leave it how it is until I get to the track to test it.

My point is that if you have factory stock suspension then 225's on the rear will be fine and make the car handle very well. But, if you have aftermarket suspension on the car it may be a bad choice. You have to pick tire widths based on the feel of the car.

If you want 225's w/18" wheels (not sure why you want this) on the rear, your best size is 225/50-18" on the rear. 225/45-18" is too short for the rear.

If you want an all-square setup, then do 225/50-18" all around (and not 225/45-18" all-around).

A staggered setup with 225's on 18" wheels is 225/45-18" front and 225/50-18" rear.
