This means it's the front wheels correct? What could be causing this problem?

I had my front left rim repaired after it was bent goin over a pothole in the winter. It was also balanced at the time. Had the suspension checked and the car aligned after that. But that was about 4 months ago. I usually don't go over 80mph so I never noticed it before. 12,500 miles on the car. Everything rides very smooth up until 80mph.

Could it be an unbalanced wheel? Alignment problem? Bad tires? Suspension issue? Time to replace the repaired wheel?

do you have after markets wheels?

 

Stock 08 wheels.

 

Do you feel it in the steering wheel or in your butt? Rule of thumb - steering wheel vib it's the front, butt vib - it's in the rear (pun intended.).

Have 'em re-balanced. Tell them you have a "highway speed" vibration.

 

If you've had a bent wheel repaired chances are that is where your vibration is coming from. It's easy to get back out of balance once a wheel has been out of round and had to be repaired.

Safe to go to the Drag Strip?

 

Probably safe for you, not so much for the other driver. I wouldn't do it. Go through the whole balance/alignment process again.

 

You should be safe to go to the drag strip. A minor unbalanced wheel/tire won't cause any issues. But get it balanced

 

I think Bryan@Z1 provides the correct answer. I bent a wheel on my Saab 95, and after the repair, it still caused vibration on the expressway (but not at lower speeds). I couldn’t balance the wheel correctly after the repair, and the fix was replacing the wheel.

happend on my old car, and i re-balanced it again.
