I went through the stock Bridgestone RE050A's, then Nitto NT05's, and now Dunlop Direzza Star Specs. Out of the three tires, the Dunlops are the stickiest tire I have driven on the street and at autocross. I highly recommend the Star Specs if you want grip in the dry and wet

Getting a set of the Dizrezza Z1 Star Spec real soon, heard nothing but great reviews about them. Right now on my second pair of the RE050As. Happy with how they performed, surprised by how well they gripped in rain but disappointed on the tread life, price, and road noise, especially when braking. Although the Direzzas are cheaper, I hope they will perform just as well and lost longer.

2003 Enthusiast 17 OEM swapped with 2003 Rays. I try to prolong the use of my tires at all times. I would rather pay for better tires, and try to work my magic. I habitually try to make my tires last beyond their capabilities. I've driven 77,000 miles, on my third set of tires, and here's my review:
OEM Potenza RE40s 0miles to 27,000miles: When I test drove my car these tires were very impressive. Grips well and showed the Z's characteristics perfectly. I drove way past the tread life on these tires. I probably should have changed them at around 22k. (I didn't know about tire feathering until around 27k)
Michelin Pilot Sport 27,000miles to 52,000miles - Very expensive, but not much more then the stock tires. The tires were awesome. Quiet (at first), and gave my car the on rail feeling. I babied these tires with proper alignments. Drove it for about 15k, and traded my 17 stocks for 03 Tracks. The tires were horrible on the Rays, so I replaced them immediately. At 15k, my tire guy said there are about 2 or 3k away from its life. I probably would have taken it for 5 more.
Toyo T1R 52,000-77,000: Going from 17s to 18s was a noticeable change. With my surface to drive on my car felt very different from the first corner. I did also just get an alignment, so that could have affected my experience. These tires are great. A lot softer than the Michelin's, but I wouldn't say it gripped any less. I loved these tires and would have gone with them again if they weren't out of stock.
Continental Extreme Contact DW: 77,000-77,500: to be continued....
