Welcome DiscountTD....Just to check your knowledge about our Z. What are the offsets for 19' wheels. 8.5 fronts with 245 and 9.5 rears with 275?

Well, as of right now I havent test fit a 9.5, but Im confident well get it to work. For now its pretty basic as the car takes a lot of fitments. We have been using mostly 8.5s up front with a 35-40 offset and a 245 tire, and a 35 offset rear with 275. This should put both tires at or within 1/4 of an inch of the fender lip. These results are for all models except for the track model which we are still getting more info on. Im expecting the fits to be similar, however we may need a bit more space with the Brembos so certain wheels with very curved spokes may not work.

 

I'm still wondering if an 18x10 wheel will fit out back... I'm inclined to think not now, but we'll see....

 

TXstyle, I have a question for you, it seems the two styles of rims I'm most intersted only come in one width, 19x7.5 for the Giovanna kobe, and 19x8 for the Tenzo-R psycho, since the front and rear will have the same width, I'll have to run probably matching tires 245-35-19 in the S-03, unless i run a 235-35 in the front and 245-35 in the rear but i dont know if that will make a difference. Plus I dont know about the kobe but the offset of the psycho is 45!!! Way to high i think? What are some of your, or anyone else's, opinions regarding this issue???

ok, i just got my first 1200 mile oil changed. i saw the entire process of it and the most important is they lifted my car up. I asked the technican how big the rims that will fit. and he said it's possible to put a 19inch rim in it but the tire has to be SUPER low profile so that the total diameter of the tire is the same as the stock one. he pointed a half-ring like thing that hangs right above the front tire. im not sure what the thing is but i guessed it must have something to do with stearing. well that's for the front. for the rear, ANTHING FITS! ( i liked that when he said it)

 

Greetings! First: on a 8' wheel you can run 235 all around or do a 245 like you said, either way would be fine. I personally like a little more meat in the rear.
Second: a 45 offset will definitely accomodate a BIG BRAKE kit, and should work but it may also protrude from the wheel wells.

Something that I havent seen mentioned in this thread...You must maintain a Overall Diameter difference front to rear. I just read someone that was considering doing 19's with 235-35-19 up front and 245-45-19 in the rear. That is only a difference of 0.28". General rule of thumb for this car is no less than 1/2" and no more than 3/4" of difference in order to maintain proper function of the ABS & Traction control systems. OE, the car comes with approx .40" in f/r difference. This is the minimum.

 

I seem to be confused... Does the higher the offset mean the more available space for the suspension and brakes, or less??? Plus this might be a dumb question but... with a staggered setup one can only rotate the tires left to right? Is this bad for tire wear??? It will it be damaging if avoiding the "OE" standard setup and run 19x8" all the way around???

 

Offset:





The offset of a wheel is what locates the tire and wheel assembly in relation to the suspension. More specifically, it is the measured distance between the hub mounting surface and the center line of the rim. Below is an explanation of the various types of offsets which are pictured in the above graphic.

Positive Offset
A positive offset occurs when the hub mounting surface is on the street side (the side you see) of the center line of the rim. Most factory rims will have this type of offset.

Zero Offset
When the hub mounting surface is centered within the rim, it is known as a zero offset.

Negative Offset
If the hub mounting surface is on the brake side of the center line of the rim, it is considered a negative offset or "deep dish".

Note that extensive negative offset can potentially cause increased steering wheel kick-back and place additional stresses on the vehicle's entire suspension.

Yes, you will screw up the suspension settings calibrated for the new staggered set-up. Nissan's running change from 7.5"x18s to the 8x18"s reduced the understeer already in the Touring 6MT.

Ican't speak to offset or running 19x8 all the way around(I don't like it), but I will speak to rotation with staggered tires. DO NOT rotate the tires on a staggered setup. I took my MR2, staggered tires to my friendly tire shop and had the tires checked and rebalanced as needed for 128,000 miles. I did this every 5000 miles, sometimes they balanced 1 or2 but never all 4, nor did they rotate any of the tires from one side to another. If the tires can't be balanced without drastic measures, replace them. You are buying a sports car, not a Camry, expect to pay more to maintain it.

If you are not willing to do that, don't buy a Z. You are going to drive the hell out of it, aren't you? Would you drive a Camry like you drive a sports car and expect it to have no problems? Get used to it and use places like this forum and others to ask questions about problems as they come up and don't believe too much of what anyone says, including me.

Im figuring if I put on aftermarket rims, it would be a 19" flat 5 spoke type 3 piece style with a deep dish rears and only a small lip up front. Sorta like the hamann pg2 for the m3. It would be easier to clean, and shows off them disc brakes. Just wished I had them brembos

 

I saw a pic of a white 350Z with 19" gunmetal TE37 Rims on it and they looked awesome! I cant agree with the color combo, but on a silverstone or black..... damn. Where can I get those? Does that color come in 18" too? If someone can provide input I'd appreciate it. Costs?
