Yep, thats my point, I know that the dealer is at least getting $1500-$1800.00 for a set of Chrome 18s, so when I say $700.00 fo chrome exchange, I shouldn't hear a problem..

If this subject has been asked before, I apologize in advance.
It has been suggested in another thread that it would be O.K. to put 245's up front and 275's in the rear, using the stock wheels.
I dunno, but 275's seem extreme.
In any event, what do you think the maximum tire sizes should be, using the stock wheels?
I would not want to risk safety and handling.

You want to stick with a 245 so you won't have "tire-roll" (buldging over your rims) which will inturn cause quick uneven wear. My wheels should be here any day now, and I'm using a 275 on a 9.5' wheel!

Seems to be some descrepency on this topic. My only reference is off road tires on various rim widths...with them, there is a HUGE varience of tire widths that can be and are run on the same width rim. Tire wear is a consideration and use is another ie. rock crawling etc...but in some instances the same dimension tire by different manufacturers had up to a 1" varience in recommended rim width!
So could someone educate me on a performance car...tire and rim setup. I already understand changing the setup may change the car's handling. My objective would be to go with the widest tires that can be safely run on stock rims (performance model) that will not notibly degrade performance, or wear terribly.

It has been suggested in another thread that it would be O.K. to put 245's up front and 275's in the rear, using the stock wheels.
I wouldn't go with any wider than a 255/45r17 on the stock 17x8" rim. That is a 10" wide tire on an 8" rim, with only 4.5 inches of sidewall to absorb that width change.
My buddy runs 275/40r17 drag radials on 17x8" wheels on his mustang, and it just ain't right. The sidewall have significant buldge, and the tire does not sit flat when properly inflated.
I run 31x10.5r15s on 15x7" wheels on my jeep. This is a 3.5 in difference, but with 8 inches of sidewall to adapt to the change. I couldn't go any wider on that rim without problems.
A 275 tire is almost 11 inches wide. That is too wide for an 8" rim on a 40 or 45 aspect tire. You won't be happy with the results.
I haven't even found anyone running a 255/45 on the stock rear wheel yet. It might rub on the inside.

Sure thing. Actually I changed my mind on the Kahn. Not that it's not a fantastic looking wheel, cause' it is! I just decided at the last moment to go with a multi-spoke look wheel. As a matter of fact I received word & tracking # and they should arrive on Thursday! Can you say:
