Default Ready for some fail? Lost lug key...

Figured I'd ask...what happens if you need to get your wheels off, but don't have the key/adapter to the wheel locks/lugs on the car?

I lost the key and know I'm

Any ideas...?

I think these are standard hex sockets? Just have to find the right one.

If they are Nissan lug-locks and not some aftermarket ones just take it to the dealer and they will give you a replacement key for a fee of $10.

Good Luck.

They make lug lock removers. I've seen them at Sears I believe. It's basically a socket that digs into the lug as you turn it. Once it embeds enough, it begins to loosen the lug lock...

Are you people serious? Nissan makes you sign some form to get the lug locks.

Just get a damn socket, and hammer it on top of the damn lock. You can do this for almost all locks.

Not so sure about that. Guy in my club blew a tire on the way home from ZDayZ and has aftermarket wheels with locking lug nuts. He left the key at home and called two tire shops in Cincinnati to find a solution. Neither could and he ended up having to flatbed the car back to Columbus. Imagine it depends on the exact lug nut?

You can hammer, or get a gorilla socket, or get a lug nut remover, or call the manufacturer.

I lost a Lug key on my old car, I called the company that made it. They told me to take a piece of Styrofoam and press it down on the lock to get the key pattern. I sent the piece to them and a week later I had a new key (actually two, got a spare lol).

Earlier in the summer I cracked my wheel lock and had a place try to bang it out with a hammer with no luck. I took it to a wheel/tire shop and they used a torch and had it off in 1 minute. I had to replace the lug and that was it.

Hope my bad luck helps you with your situation.

Hammer a socket over the lug and use an impact wrench to get it off. I took my car to 3 different tire shops who couldnt get my locking lugs off, took me 5minutes to get all 4 off when I used an impact&socket.

Some good ideas I see...I'll have to look into it. However its a McGard wheel lock that requires the special pattern similar to the pic below. I guess I'll have to try and call them and see what happens. Simply because of the small pattern on the lock, it shouldn't take much torque to get them off...but I'd rather not do anything to eff up my rims even if they are stock.

Thanks for all the input and help guys...if anyone can think of anything else, keep the ideas coming!

I saw a suggestion on a random Scion forum (followed a picture link there! I have nothing to do with Scions ) and saw someone suggest the Gator socket as below...might be the easiest option to try IMO...
