The top ones are SSR Competitions, they are in the $400-500/wheel range. They are just over 16# (17x9.5), and are semi-forged with cast barrels. The bottom ones are 5Zigen FN01R-Cs, 17x10, and are cast. They are about 21#, and are like $250/wheel.

I've had Volks on my Z before, and yes I was worried about them getting snagged, scuffed, etc. I had over $4g tied up in a set of wheels/tires, which just didn't seem smart given other factors (in my opinion). It's all about perspective. To someone who makes $30k/year, a set of Volks is ~10 weeks of paychecks, but to someone who makes $200k/year, that same set is less than 2 weeks of pay. But just because one can afford them doesn't mean that $ can't/shouldn't be spent somewhere else, hence why I wear Oakley sunglasses.

i think you should read the entire thread. so far all the responses have been civil and nice discussion has been started albeit one that's been beaten to death. so far no name calling no bashing. im pretty surprised in a good way.

I dont get it either people mod there cars to be different but yet they buy volks which are all over the place. If there everywhere who really cares when they see them on yet another car they dont stand out. Some people are trend setters and others say let me buy volks cause everyone else is. What ever floats your boat its your money your car your decision

id trade a nut for some but would probally not pay new price for them.

And my love for volk is what they represent, damn sexy and quality parts, kind of like the z in itself.

I know they perform like crazy, but in all seriousness, they just make something so beautiful that not many other wheel manufactures can.

Flame suit on but if i had a chance to pic up some rota replica TE37s i would. Im not going to be tracking it though. I dont need volk quality but would love to have it. So i buy what suit my needs.

I ordered my Volks with the offsets I wanted, the size I wanted, the color I wanted. I did not want 19" rims, allowing me more tires choices, I kept 18"s. Volk was happy to build a set of Volk GTS in gunmetal with the offsets I wanted and i waited my 6 mos and I haven not had a single problem and there attention to detail is amazing.

These are amazing wheels and not too badly priced. For what we paid for the car, I would not spend any less on quality. Not to mention Rays parent company to Volk, makes OEM wheels for our Nissan so its only fitting.

good luck finding a quality forged lightweight multipiece wheel (which is what your paying for when you buy volks) for half the price..

I am actually surprised at how civil this thread is. As for my opnion on the matter:

I dont hate them, but I'd never buy them unless I had the money and even then I'd still look at some other brands (Advan, Weds, SSR). I think for about 90% of the people that buy them it is because of the point factor (make it 80% for those who wont admit that). Volk is a highly recognized wheel brand that creates stable and exciting trends. As others have said, compared to brands like HRE, BBS, I-Forged, DPE, 360-Forged, Fiske, etc they are a bargain. Only your well off, sponsored or high end racers (amateur or pro) will track volks, otherwise companies like Enkei, 5Zigen and Rota are good enough for most people.

There's no shame in not beig able to buy Volks. You just need to know what you're getting for your money when you buy from someone else, so do your research.

It's prolly not only the fact that yes rays manufactures volks and stock wheels for the car, but a lot of race/show cars have VOLK written all over their cars. So i guess you could say a lot of it could also involve a good bit of successful advertisement.

In his defense, he didnt say forged lightweight multipiece wheels could be had at the 1/2 the price, just that quality wheels could be found. I think Enkei is a perfect example of qaulity wheels at half the price, in terms of their RPF1, RP03, NTO3 styles (otherwise their street wheels look like *** IMO).

x2.. $30k+ car that came stock with lightweight rays wheels on some models but yet we have guys who would rather have a cheap flashy looking 30lb set of wheels

Not all Volks are multipiece, and yes RPF1's, NT03's and FN01c work just fine. The RPF1's are closest to Volk weight and are only a pound off.

I don't know about you, but here in Houston I've seen only 3 z's with volks. They may be the norm on the forum but not so in the real world.

The fact of the matter is that Volk/RAYS spent a ton of money on R&D creating wheels in the correct sizes and offsets that look really really good when installed on our platform. I'm sure if you ask them they will tell you the 350z has been their main platform for the last few years. Other companies have attempted to follow suite in accomplishing this same task but to date Volk/RAYS has been the most proficient.
