Quick question about tire size
Hey whats up guys? lol just failed inspection cause they said my tires were too bald.. the tires on the car right now are 255 40 18 all around.. would it be fine to put on 225/40/18 all around? found a whole set for cheap, any input would be nice thanks guys!

It would help if you told us what wheels your car has on them. If they are stock, then what is your year and trim level?
btw: I'm a little concerned that the only reason you are buying new ties is that you failed an inspection. Have you looked at your tires yourself to see what kind of shape they are in?

Stock tire prices arn't bad, then again 245/40 in front may be cheaper to run up front.

Im surprised everyone is being so nice to you, must be the holidays
If you do the smallest amount of research you will find your answer.

If you want to go with less expensive tires, consider buying A/S tires instead of summer performance tires. A/S tires cost less, last longer, and run more comfortably and more quietly; but still provide a decent driving experience if you go with the right sizing (at least 225/45-18” front and 245/45-18” rear on the wheels you have).

Expensive you say! Yup... very expensive. It’s foolish to buy a performance car and then equip it with the wrong sized or type tires that compromise the Z’s great handling.

yeah rim width has nothing to do with the diameter of the tire
OP please use this before you purchase tires. you need to understand you cant just throw any size on there and go http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

im running a 225/40r18 on the front, which is a 9.5 and a 235/40r18 rear, which is a 10 inch width
225 on stock 8 inch wide rims might not look all the best becuase of crappy offset but they will work plenty fine

225’s on a 9.5” wide wheel (or 235’s on a 10” wide wheel) are certainly an interesting setup.
Would you agree that this setup is s_t_r_e_t_c_h_e_d?
