Default Is there a way to manually reset TPMS?

I did a search and some people claimed that they could, however there is no how to DIY. I upgraded to Track Rays off an '08, however the TPMS lights flash as if the TPMS are not registering. How do you DIY reset the TPMS?

If you are using a different set of TPMS out of the new wheels, you need to go to a nissan dealership to get them synced up.

Or, swap your old TPMS sensors into your new wheels (This might be the cheaper option).

^^ And then purchase the software to operate the Console, and pay for the updates and software support...

It's no wonder the dealership must charge what some people think is a high fee to reset the TPMS sensors. It isn't only the 5 minutes of labor that the dealer needs to recapture its cost to provide this service.

There is a thread over on G35Driver where somebody claims to be able to reset it "manually". I've never seen anybody here report that they've tried it and it worked. In theory it should if it worked on a G35.

You're not thinking hard enough. That's the easy piece of the puzzle. That doesn't get the computer to recognize new or different sensors which is what the OP is needing done.

Reset tool. Has a OBDII connection. Runs $135 + shipping.

Has anyone with a Z verified that this works? Sounds like a good option.

Dave, … What is the difference between “Reprogram” and “Reset?”

I’m confused by this terminology. The Z’s ECU only supports 4 sensors.

For example, I have two dedicated wheel/tire setups (winter and summer). I swap the setups (the tires mounted on the wheels).

If I mount sensors in each set (so I have 8 sensors in all, 4 for in each setup), would I be “reprogramming” or “resetting” when I mount/swap the wheel/tire setups that already contain dedicated sensors?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I’m confused.

+1, I have the same issue now. 2 sets of wheels, one original TPMS, one new set, what is the best way to use both without running up a 100 dollar tab every winter and spring?

I suspect different people have different definitions, but my understanding of this over the last couple of years is like this. There is an activation tool that you touch to the valve stem of the TPMS sensor. Basically, it wakes up the sensor because it is normally "off" until the car is driven about 20 mph. Those tools are widely available and from what I've heard, they can "reset" or "reboot" or "re-initialize" the sensor. Note that there is no connection to the car or ECU with that device so nothing is being changed on that side of the system.

At the dealer, in conjunction with the activation tool, the tech will use the Consult system to "reprogram" the computer side. Remember that the computer only recognizes 4 sensors at a time. Each sensor transmits a unique ID that the computer looks for. The activation tool does not change the ID, it only make the sensor transmit its ID. Consult has to be used to tell the computer to recognize a new or different ID.

By my definition, "reset" only affect the sensors; reprogram affects the ECU/computer.

ATEQ that Neal shows above claims to have a tool that reprograms the ECU much like Consult would do. Not sure if that's the one Neal says is $135 since I can't find it on their site.

The Ateq Neal mentions can read the ID's of the sensors that came preinstalled when connected to the OBD11 connector.
You can store those.
If the sensors are preinstalled on new wheels you will need the sensors ID to register to the car.
Also, I think you can only select one type car.
Out the box it sees Infiniti but I needed online update to see Nissan.
I will try this soon but I am looking for a way to read my Infiniti G coupe, as well as the 03, 06 and 07 350Z's I own.

I wonder if I can run the program off different flash [or SD] drives for each model car..

Bump..

So there's no way to reset the TPMS on our own? The G35driver thread doesn't really have anything you can actually attempt on your own as all the procedures are missing vital bits of info and I'm too cheap to buy the ATEQ tool.
