AHAHAHA I've seen that RX-7 vid 1000 times!
The topic isn't really funny cuz this guy could have killed ppl with his ignorance.
And if I was out at track day and that happened to me I would shoot myself square in the brain.

I agree- usually the thing that causes this is an incorrect spline. I know you said that you verified that it was correct, but even if it is correct, you're basically now looking at picking up some new lugs.

Either get some Loctite or some different lugs, imo... preferably the latter.

I just picked up some nice lugs from Touge Factory in Elk Grove, they have a nice collection- Rays, Project Kics, etc. Considering you went with Montegi wheels, I would recommend a reasonably priced set from Mcgards. Arguably the safest AND strongest lugs on the market. You can probably find a set for around $75 or so (with locks).

However, now that you've been trying your damnedest to tighten 1.5 pitch lugs, I'm not sure I'd trust the studs now when you do get the proper pitch lugs back on. Not that I've done it personally, but I've seen where 1.25 lugs would no longer tighten either after 1.5 had been tried. I'm not sure if the threads would be something I'd trust even if they do seem to tighten now.

Are you sure you gave us the right part number? As DavesZ#3 pointed out, the part number you mentioned is not 12x1.25, it's 12x1.5.

I've seen it a lot as well, it crops up every few months on the RX7 forums. I've seen it attributed to everything to wrong lugnuts, to under torquing the nuts, to over torquing the nuts.

It is just painful to watch though.
