i bought a set of 18" 35th anniversary OEMs from a seller that doesn't know whether they have TPMS or not.

^ don't you have to reset your gauge in order for new TPMS to work?

search "tpms" on the forums. I believe if it does have tpms they should have a metal stem, along with a metal cap which is visible from out the outside. Obviously the cap could be different.

Possibly completely air out the tire and press down where the valve stem is and look on the inside?

You may have to look inside the wheel.

Look at the valve stem. If it is rubber, you don't have TPMS. If it is metal, it may be TPMS. It has a distinct look - compare yours to someone who does have them. They come out with a 12mm wrench.

That is a Schrader brand unit, as used in a Z. One thing to take note of, depending on the build date, these things are now about 6 years old. This is about the time that the non-replaceable (wheel unit) batteries start to die. You can get genuine Schrader replacements from the aftermarket at a fraction of the Nissan price.

I never knew this, and most of our sending units are about this age, so thank you. I've started to notice your posts - most of them in the ZR area - and have really enjoyed them. I must admit no other female has taught me so much about a car. I hope that's not a bad thing. So. . um. . thanks!
