Default Tire Feathering on 07?!

I just checked my falken fk-452 tires (both front and rear) and it seems like after only about 18k miles, the most inner threads are almost bald while the other threads have an even wear of at least 70%. I remember the alignment shop saying they were able to put the car back to factory specs (although i lost the sheets).

I just have a quick question. I hope to prolong these tires seeing as how it's only been 18k miles and the tires are in good condition besides the inner thread. If I rotate my staggered tires (front: left to right, rear: left to right), would i be in danger of losing traction since the worn tread will now be on the outside?

edit: also, since only the most inner thread is worn, would i be fine just driving it until the rest of the thread wears out?

The rears are different sizes unles you did them all the same. 225 front the rears are 245.

To my knowlege they can't be fliped either becuase they have an outside stamp meaning they can only go on one way.

falken fk452s are symmetrical, and you can therefore do the swap you're proposing (left to right, right to left). i would not recommend doing front/rear swaps.

by the way, the arrow in your pics points to the OUTER tread.

Fk452 suck for longevity, im surprised u got 18k out of them.
Any car can have feathering issues if the alignment is out of spec.

Take the tires off the wheels.
Put them on the opposite wheels.
Now the inside is on the outside. The outside is on the inside.
You will be fine.

BTW why do you refer to this as "feathering?"

If he went left to right and right left wouldn't it basically be the same? The wear would still be taking place on that same spot.

The 452 have an inside outside stamp, you can't take the tire off and flip.

ya i know, i noticed afterwards and was too lazy to change the arrows.
i can't do a front and rear swap b/c i have 245 in front and 275 in rear.

Actually that's for the front, the rear i just checked and it is way below the quarter coin standard so i'm going to replace the rears.. do you have any recommendation on alternative brands that's around the same price as fk-452? before i got the fk-452s, i also had Sumitomo HTR III as one of my options.

It just came to me haha, thought i saw somewhere feathering meant the inner treadwear is uneven.

Basically i will change the tire on the left rim to the right rim, and the tire from the right rim to the left rim. I have to take off the tires off the rim, not simply change the rims left to right and vice versa.

That will work. Next time do not wait so long. Figure $120 for a 4-tire swap. If you can get another 5,000 miles it is worth the money.

This can go on forever, but even if you take the tire off the rim it has to go back on the same way. So if the inside is worn out that part of the tire will still be on the inside. Doesn't matter what side or rim. The 452 can only go on one way.

you fail. you can take the right front tire only (not rim), and put it on the right LEFT rim. now what used to be the inner part is now the outer part, and the tire spins the same direction. you fail.

18k and the rears are almost completely bald. But they still grip superb for some reason. Good thing i checked... or else it might've been dangerous...

7k on rears no way! you must have crazy toe/camber or something.....
