Wheel and tire size assistance... feathering
I have an 03 Touring with the stock 18" wheels. I'm in need of tires as I believe feathering has taken its toll. I heard that is common on the 03 model, what is the best solution? Just alignment and camber adjustment?
As for new wheels and tires I am debating on just getting new ones for the 18s vs. buying new 17s.
If I keep stock 18" wheels, what are suggestive sizes for front and rear? They are 225/45 Front and 245/45 Rear currently. I desire wider Rear tires to reduce wheel spin on hard acceleration and when powerband kicks in. I like treadwear to be 300+ and need better handling during precipitation. Any brand suggestions?
On the other hand, if I go with 17s what rim width staggering can I get by with while still achieving the goals mentioned above? Plus, I do not want effect under/oversteer as I know staggering can.
Thanks

If you want wide rear tires you need wide rear wheels, if you want sticky tires you need something in the 200 treadwear area.
You're kind stuck with 245's , but you can throw 245/40 up front to make the car handle better

I desire wider Rear tires to reduce wheel hop on semi-hard acceleration and when powerband kicks in. Basically, I want to reduce wheel spin. I like treadwear to be 300+ and need better handling during precipitation. Any brand suggestions?

im kind of in the same boat. When i got my 03, it had pretty bad tires and i currently have it garaged during the bad weather due to all the salt on the road but when i was looking into buying an 03 i saw a thread dedicated to this issue...i was wondering if anyone had a link?(to the post on multiple proposed fixes on the 03/04 alignment issue)
So it looks like I'm keeping the stock 18s with original tire measurements after assessing my wants and driving style. I am still wanting treadwear at 300. I have decided to upgrade suspension to reduce wheel hop. I'm thinking gr2s unless better suggestions?
Now my main concern is traction during wet conditions. Any brand suggestions?

For now, I have chosen:
Continental
ExtremeContact DWS
If anyone knows where to buy for best price?? Enlighten me! Thanks
What if I went with 245/45 all around? Then I could rotate front to rear, I would hate to buy 2 different sizes that close to each other... just wondering.
