Default Winter Setup Question

Hey everyone, after reading through the forums, the common consensus is that the 350z does not handle well on snow/ice, and is especially bad with low profile tires. Well I happen to have low profile tires and live in Kansas where we get some snow and ice during the winters, sometimes quite a bit, so I was looking into getting a cheaper set of tires/rims that would hopefully handle a little bit better than the ones I have, so my question being, would these fit on my Z?

sorry if it's a dumb question, this deal just seems awesome if they would indeed fit. Thanks!

sell the Z and buy a RSX. seems like a better fit for you since you're asking this question

... Alright, so you're gonna get a lot of flack for that question, especially on a forum like this man. It happens, just let it go. To answer your question, I'm not gonna give you a simple yes or no, i'm gonna tell you how to find out for yourself instead. That way you'll know in the future. What you are looking for is several things, all of which can be found using google. First you need the bolt pattern of the wheels. (most likely they're the right ones, 5x114.3). just check and make sure. OEM patterns and specs are listed in a ton of places. You'll need all of these specs for both vehicles. Then you're gonna need to know diameter, are the 16s, 17s? And whether or not that diameter wheel will clear your specific brake setup. Than, offset and width, especially for the front wheels, just so you know they dont rub. Once you have all that info, just do a simple comparison, if the figures make it seem like they should fit, give it a shot. Just cuz you try the wheels on your car to ensure the fitment is right, doesn't mean you're obligated to buy them. and if the seller tries to pull that, than kindly tell him to ********************************* turkey baster ******************************** yellow *************shoe horn ****************** aunt ***************** peanutbutter*******************.

thank you for being the only one who didn't waste 1-2 seconds of my time reading your reply, and thanks for the info too! I stated that it was a dumb question, I happened to know that the bolt patterns should be the same, and that by looking through various sites and figuring out numbers I should be able to figure out if they should fit. I simply thought there could be someone who knew the answer that didn't mind helping a fellow Z owner out. Luckily I was prepared for the D-bag answers lol

1) Appropriate title your threads to the relevant question

2) I have no idea what the specs are for those wheels, why not look them up yourself and then we can help?

Ok, sounds like the wheels are 16x6.5 +42 offset, the bolt pattern is 5x114.3 (like the Z) and the tires are 205/55-16's. Do those sound like they would fit and work decently well on my Z? It's anywhere from 100 and 112 degrees out and humid as hell here in KS so I'd rather not have to buy them from the guy, take all my wheels off and try 'em out, then put my other wheels on in this heat if I don't have to lol

Those specs are terrible for a Z, I would not suggest them.

Your best bet is just to get some winter/snow rated tires instead.

Thanks. Terrible as in they'd do worse than my low profile tires on 19" rims? and do they even make snow tires that would fit my rims and honestly make a difference with traction?

^ Im sure they make snow rated tires that will fit your stock rims, given you still have those lying around. If you don't, im sure you should be able to find some used ones on the cheap. That's one thing I learned the hard way when I lived in MD, always keep your stockers for purposes like those. You live and learn I guess lol

Best site in my opnion, just enter your year/model and it will give you options for the winter tires and you can get rims (chit ones for winter) that will come prefit to the tires for you so you are 100% sure they will fit!

Look up the specs for 96 240sx SE wheels.
Look up the specs for 350Z OEM wheels.
Compare. There you go.
