Default Aftermarket Wheels and VDC

We are all familiar with the Nismo warning about putting Nismo wheels on a VDC equipped Z. I think this warning actually would apply to any aftermarket wheel and tire set up since these wheels were not tested and certified with the VDC either. Nismo puts the warning out there because of their ties with Nissan while other wheel manufacturers don't feel the need to protect themselves via a warning.

Does this make sense? What do the rest of you think about this?

I have a "G" with Nismos. I have 245/40s & 275/40s on my 18" wheels. Though I usually drive with VDC off, when it's on I have noticed no problems. In the warning they adivsed if you did use the wheels, you should switch to Nismo suspension pieces. I believe this to be bull, and is intended to promote the sale of suspension parts. I also hear, that the warning has been recended by Nismo.

IMO, if you keep the Outside Wheel Diameters the same as they were before you changed wheels, there should be no problems. And indeed, I have experienced none.

You just need to make sure the REAR tire diameter is LARGER then the Front.

for the 18" nismo wheels they recomend the above sizes... 245/40 / 275/40.

What ever that diameter difference is should be carried on to 19" wheels etc.

245/35/19 front and 275/35/19 rear work perfectly with VDC. Same outside diameters as stock.

Default no problem noticed on my g35

I Drive with the VDC in the "Off" Position When I'm Driving the Vehicule Harder Than Recomended.
And in The "On" Position When Driving Conditions and Visibility is Restricted.
Shifts still The same way (Smooth) Since Day One Back In Sept '03.
I Have Axis Mods:
Front: 20x9 (275/30R20)
Rear : 20x10 (285/30R20)
On my '04 G35.

I agree with lowrider, they are just trying to sell suspension parts.

I've seen this trend of shops recommending 245/35 fronts and 275/30 rears. claims the 275/30 is the same diameter as the 245/35. What do you think? Regardless, would this mess up the VDC?

The shops are right, 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 are the same outside diameter. But, we don't want that. Yes it will mess up the VDC and the handling Nissan built into our cars. Those shops don't understand the stagger. You want your rears to be 1" larger in OD than the fronts. Therefore the proper sizing with 19s is 245/35/19 and 275/35/19.
