Toyo TS1 Uneven wear...big time
well, i just had to switch my toyo's side to side because of grossly uneven wear on the inside shoulder. every bit of tread depth was gone on the inside inch or two. i have put about 7500 miles on these bad boys, and have loved them the whole time. i hadn't even noticed the uneven wear until it was pointed out to me. i have run one autocross and one HPDE on them. i keep them at 35 psi while on the road.
the problem is, i almost ruined a pair of very expensive tires in 7500 miles. so..my question: has anyone else out there had any problems with their toyo's doing this same thing? i was really hoping the stock tires were part of the uneven wear problem. obviously not. granted, i do have aftermarket wheels as well, which may make some difference. i have done the alignment thing, and hopefully that will help. otherwise, i guess i have to plan on getting cheaper tires from now on.

i did do the alignment...after i noticed the problem. hopefully that will remedy it.
the car is not lowered in any way. i will look into some front camber adjustments if it comes back. i'll just cross my fingers in the meantime.

I had an alignment done before I put my T1S's on, then ran them for 9000 miles and 12-15 autocrosses with only the normal, expected wear.
Then after 4 consecutive track days, which left them badly chunked (they weren't designed for that kind of abuse), I pulled them off to find that the right rear tire was worn down to the cord on the inside edge. I also found that the camber on that side was -5 (!!!) compared to -2 on the left side, which was undoubtedly the cause of the wear pattern. I suggest you have your alignment rechecked.
After installing adjustable rear camber arms, I replaced the tires with Potenza Pole Positions, only because the Bridgestone dealer is a lot closer than the Toyo dealer. These tires totally suck--they're no better than the stock Potenzas and there's a huge difference in the way the car handles on the street compared to the Toyos. I'd give anything to have another set of T1S's instead of these things.

So, are we supposed to have it alignment done with the stock tires, and then put the aftermarket wheels and tires on? I'm planning to put some 19's on in about 2 months from now, but currently i'm running stock wheels with the lower profile than the stock tires on. (225/40/17 and 245/40/17), I would think you put the aftermarket wheels and tires on, then get the alignement to match what you have? my car also has an .5 inches drop.

I assume the drop you are mentioning is from the lower profile tires, if that is the case it should not affect it since that just sits the car lower evenly while springs lower your actual suspension changing the geometry of it.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having wear now.
