Default Spare Tire for Brembo Brakes Confirmation

Hi Guys, need a little advice.....

I have a 2008 350z. It was sold to me as an enthusiast but my other friend from Nissan said that guy was wrong and it is really touring. It has power leather and VDC, bose, but no gps.

Anyway, a while ago I picked up some brembos from ebay and put them on my car. They look great, but I believe I have a problem with the spare tire. The spare tire size that came with my car is the T145/80D17 107M. I also says that same size on the inside of the drivers side door. I am fairly certain that when we tried to put the spare on the front wheels it rubbed the new brembo calipers.

I went back on ebay and bought a spare tire that was supposed to fit over the brembos but it ended up being the EXACT same size: T145/80D17.

I looked high and low on this forum and the only thing that I could find was that the 17" rim is supposed to fit and the 16" does not. And I also found that if your car does not come with brembos, then you do not have the right spare tire. My car came with a 17", but I don't believe it fits.

I went one step further and got the owners manual for the 2003 350z and looked at the spare tire choices on there. The 17" option on the 2003 (im assuming track model) is T155/80R17. According to what I found online, this meas that the "Section Width" is different.

So my question is this, did I get ripped off? If so, how can I acquire the correct size spare and know for sure that it will fit my car and also fit in the trunk with the bolt screw? I just don't want to be stranded at some point!

Thanks for your time and sorry if this was already covered in another thread. I spent some time looking for the answer but couldn't find anything concrete.

Anyone know the answer to this very good question?

I was under the impression that the spare was universal (brembo or not).

I replaced my 16" with a 17" because of what I read on here but honestly I've never mounted it. If I have time tomorrow morning I will give it a shot and post the results; I should have done it a long time ago but fortunately I haven't needed to use it.

This is what you want to order as confirmed from the Courtesy Parts catalog:

Manufacturer: Nissan
Illustration: 433 Road Wheel & Tire
Product SKU: 40300-Z33027

http://www.courtesyparts.com/40300p-...4_715_800_805&

There are actually 3 different spares 1 being a 16" another being a 17" for the convertibles and the last being a 17" for Track and GT models

I would try to fit your current spare, if it's really close just keep a 5mm spacer in your car and you can just slip it on whenever you need to run the spare. Otherwise you will need to get the correct spare

Tire size may be the same, but the rim clearance design may be different for the brembo ones. Try fitting the one you bought? I dont' even know where I have my spare stashed, it's somewhere in the house or garage. If I could find it quickly I would look and tell you.

Here's an easy solution, throw a wheel spacer on, that should give it enough clearance

BOUGHT! Thanks man. I just wanted to have the real deal to be honest but thanks for all your input guys. This has been in the back of my mind for months. Let me know if I need any other parts to make this fit into my trunk properly. Now I just gotta sell two regular spare tires...

Really, front and rear? That would be great, as I recently put a set of OEM Brembo's on my '08 base.

I actually also bought an alloy spare from a junkyard, from an Infiniti with Akebono's, so I'm sure it fits, and it was only $25. It is a bit larger, though, so I'll have to try my Z's spare original and I'll keep whichever is lighter, assuming both fit.

Those alloy spares are usually super light, that's a nice pickup.

See if there is an LKQ junkyard nearby. They have fixed prices for parts you pull yourself, and you might get lucky.

Will the spare that fits over the Akebono's, fit in the originial spare tire well of the 350?

I ask because I've had Akebonos on my 350 all year and I have a spare in the trunk that I know won't fit! lol

Well, the Infiniti spare is from a car with OEM Akebono's, so my guess is you'd be OK. hate to say it, but I've been too lazy to see if it fits in the Z trunk, but it pretty much has to. The Nismo has those 19" rear wheels, and I hope one of those would fit in the trunk, especially since I just bought a set of those.

One of those nismo 19's with a tire will not fit into the spare tire well, and if it did it would stick out twice as far, being that they are so wide. It's very difficult to fit any decent size wheels in the rear with the strut bar in there where it is.
