Default hey

hey it happens to me too. I think its coming fom my rear calipers. It seems like one of them is loose or somthing. It only makes the noise when i reverse and brake for the first time. If i was to reverse again and brake after it "clicked", it won't repeat the noise. But if i were to go foward and brake, then reverse and brake it will repeat the noise. It seems like the caliper is shifting into place or something when the rotor changes its direction or rotation????????

Pad knock is exactly what it sounds like, the pads slide forward and back inside the caliper. It's a fact of life on racing calipers and becoming more prevelent on high performance street caliper as the designs mimick racing designs, i.e. 4 and 6 piston non floating calipers. It can also be caused by an undersized pad body which leaves too much room for and aft between the caliper, just .010 to .020 will create a loud knock. It's usually nothing to worry about.

That's what that is I've taken my front right wheel off so many times trying to figure out what the hell is going on. I thought it was a suspension thing. Will it do it to if you go over a speedbump?

I think Rivet is on the right track. Mine does it occasionally as well. Particularly my right rear caliper. When I changed my pads out, it seems like the metal shims that fit over the pad aren't particularly tight. When you start from a standstill, or brake, the pad moves inside of the shim a bit...and the metal shim makes a little clicking noise. That's my diagnosis. In other words, nothing at all to worry about.

WELL THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND WHEN I USED TO BRAKE THE CLIPER WOULD SHIFT BACK AND FORTH OVER SPEED BUMPS AND ALL EVEN REVERSE AND I TOOK IT TO GET CHECKED AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THAT THERE IS TWO BOLTS ON THE CALIPER THAT WERE TOTALLY LOOSE AND THAT WAS CAUSING IT TO SHIFT BACK AND FORTH, OTHER THAN THAT I DONT KNOW WHAT IT COULD BE
