Put these on my G recently, think they are relatively new, thought I'd give brief report.

Konig Hypergrams 18x10.5 +25, around 19LB.

Same/similar casting technology as Enkei (flowform, MAT)
About same weight as RPF1.
After rebate cost me $680 for 4, around half as much as RPF1.
Offset is near perfect for fitting widest rubber possible. On front of G coupe wheel barely clears steering knuckle. RPF1 at +15 will (needlessly) poke 5mm further out towards fender lip.

Supposedly Konig quality has improved in recent history. Time/miles will tell. If they bend/crack too easily I'll report back.

 

Sounds good. You should post pics of the Konigs on your G.

For people wanting to know, the much vaunted "Enkei MAT" process was actually conceived and implemented by Konig and subsequently licensed by Enkei; so no reason to doubt the claims.

 

They look pretty good, similar to some of the Rays Gram Light series. Looks like they have pretty good BBK clearance too :P

 

Yeah, they clear my 13" wilwoods fine :-0

 

Seen the Hypergrams on another member's z, can't remember who or where the post went. Maybe in the 18" wheel thread. They look nice but can't beat the classic look of RPF1s but at that price well worth it.

I wouldnt call it an RPF1 killer but def a challenger...the price point is significant but they are unproven - probably why they are priced so low.

my 10.5" wide enkeis were 19lbs raw ... so very comparable - good stuff

 

They're only $195 at discount tire, plus there's $50 rebate on 4 (was $100 rebate for a while).

 

The RPF1 will poke out an extra 10mm

Interesting wheel, if I needed a 3rd set I would grab them. Then run a 5mm front spacer and 15mm rear

 

I'm not arguing by any stretch but price is only so much of a factor when you get below a certain point and/or when your racing budget is high enough.

A multi-million dollar racing team couldnt care less about a $100 price difference between two wheels - they're more concerned which one will endure.

At some price point you pay more for the reputation of a wheel knowing it'll last the season through the abuse it gets put through.

All that to say, give Konig a few years to develop a reputation and you're set ...

 

I see wheels as expendables - the way/where I drive they're all gonna fail eventually. I greatly prefer that they bend rather than crack.

 

 

The konigs replaced some bent TE37s. And I still have some forged OEM G 19" Ray's that I think are lovely wheels, just way too narrow. At less than $200 a pop I can afford to replace the Konigs a lot more often, though replacing my spine might be a bit more costly if they shatter at inopportune moment...

 

Just to clarify..... Konig isn't a new wheel company. They've been around for nearly 40 years and as mentioned previously, were the originators of the MAT process that Enkei has capitalized on for many years.
