Default SCCA Time Trial Max 2 tires

Anyone have experience with 200 wear rating track tires?

Though having raced Showroom Stock back in the day I'm not familiar with track ready tires available now. I'm looking at tires with a 200 tread wear rating and expect that replacement cost will be a significant expense. Want to be competitive but don't want one weekend tires. Any brand suggestions/comparisons will be helpful. Thanks

Sreve- if you raced SS back in the day, you already know quite a bit. The tires in the UTQG 200 range won't have the overall stick that new DOT-R tires have today. But among the tires I'd suggest you research are the BFGoodrich G=Force Rival S and the like. Try looking at the tire tests on tirerack.com to get a better idea and talk to solo guys in your area who run them.

Hey Steve, are you running SCCA Max2 in May at the main circuit ? I will try to get in advanced that weekend so I can participate in TT Max2 too! I am still intermediate but was able to run a solid low 1:31 on my all seasons. I got advised on the Hancook RS4. They seem to last a lot longer than the RE71R but are not very suitable on wet weather. $850 for a staggered set for me. not too expensive neither.

Not that far along, yet. Hope to have the engine at the machine shop in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll crew for you. Thanks for the input.

Shoot. I won't be able to blame my poor performance on my tires. The more review I read , the more attractive those tires sound.

Agreed. Don't think I need a better tire to start out.
