Question Mickey Thomson ET Streets question...

I just picked up a set of MT ET streets so I can run in the D.O.T street tire class...I got 15x25x10.5 and plan to mount them on Weld prostars...My questions are the following..

1) do I NEED to run tubes(I already have a set of new tubes so i figured to use them anyway)
2)do I need to run the beadlocks??(screws in the rims are already there for my slicks..)
3)what kind of PSI do I need?
4)do these things hook as good as true slicks??

Any input is greatly appreciated...

1. I thought I had tubes, but got a flat and found out I didn't. 2 schools on this one. 1 shop said you need tubes but didn't say why, the other said that with tubes, if you spin the tire on the rim the valve stem will break off, and they are drag racers, so I'm going without.
2. Don't have beadlocks either
3. 15 or so
4. don't know about true slicks, but I revved to 5000 and dropped the clutch and they HOOKED!

and your right, their was nothing wrong with your pulley, but you were not playing nicely. I'm selling it now anyway, but it was great.

When you dropped the clutch at 5000 rpms were you on N2O or N/A..Cause I am making 350 ft lbs of TQ @5500 and I hooked on the clicks like crazy!! I think I will run the tubes with the beadlocks since I have them already...

2003z, glad to hear those tires are working out for you. Hey, daking, what are the backspace/offset specs on the weld wheels you have and do you have a picture of them and how they sit on the car? thanks.

Call summit and check. I am almost positive that you need tubes. I run MT Slicks on my 88 GTA pushing 600 plus 300 Nitrous HP and it grips awesome. Run the tire pressure at about 12psi and burn them up nice to heat them.

check on Mustang or F-Body forums. They would know far more than the Z crowd about running ET Streets. Looks like a great setup, though. I'll probably be looking into Welds/ET Streets as well. Kind of scared about the drivetrain though. A 5000 RPM clutch drop with 340+ ft-lbs of torque sounds extreme on the stock setup. Who knows.

Alot of people dont know it but our drivetrain is amazingly strong!!! Smithstown was in the low 11's on a stock driveline..They may have done a Nismo clutch..

We use ET streets on our 1000hp Supras. We do not use bead locks or tubes and we are pushing 900lbs of torque. Yes they hook very well. You can see my brother pull a 1.44 60ft with them at www.wotm.com.
