Autocross Wheels
For B Stock, what wheels are made in the stock 17" size?
Are the stock wheels 7.5 widths all the way around?
What are the stock wheel weights?
I'm looking for affordable wheels that are fairly light weight. I thought Enkie had some, but looking at Discount Tire, I couldn't find 7.5s.
(Yes, I know technically I'm not supposed to go down to 17" since my car came with 18"s, but I'm only running local and I don't think I'll have a problem with it.)

Fronts are 17 x 7.5" 23lbs
Rears are 17 x 8" 24lbs
I think a popular lightweight rim is the G-games.

Looking at www.discounttiredirect.com , I don't see 7.5 inch G Games in 17"s. I like some of the Enkei prices, though
Buddy Clubs Again no 17x7.5 in our size but they have 17x8. Since the rears are 8" from the factory, you could probably get away with those. Super duper light.

I have 17x8 all around, which makes it half-stock... but it's not a problem on my level of autox. 15.8 frikin pounds per rim for price $1599 mounted with Toyo T1S and shipped.
Twice and even more expensive TEs, Nismos, G-games are within 1 lbs lighter or even heavier than RPF-1... So value/$ ratio is incredibly good for these wheels...

Ah, and the fact that Enkei is supplying wheels to McLaren Mercedes F1 team... it kind of making me feel good about their wheels!

There seems to be a lot of incorrect info out there. We have 8 and 9 wide rims with 245 and 275 x 17's. There are many factors to consider when selecting sizes. First and foremost is maintaining the diameter of the stock wheels. I am surprized people suggest the same aspect ratio for the front and the rear. That will make the rear diameter significantly larger. Enough to screw up the traction control. I'd turn that off when I autoX, but that's another thread.
The second number is a percentage of the width. Therefore the wider rear HAS to have a lower aspect ratio. Likewise, if you put the same width rim you will have different cross sections. You need wider rims on the rear.
The correct max size without body / suspension mods in 17 inch is 245/45/17 and 275/40/17. See my other thread for Racing Rims and tires for sale cheap. My dad bought a Z, and its a great car, but he decided to run my 996 GT3 for autoX's. Please no challenges - just show up and run! We're all car guys. I know what I am talking about - 8 years AutoX exp in the PCA.
19's are for show. 18's are ok for autoX, but are going to get beat up at the track. 17's are the way to go if you want to be fast. I'm sure you want to be fast - otherwize you would have bought a Honda!
Do your research - Good Luck,
Joe

Well, the narrower front tires cause part of the push, so for autox, I'm going with the same width front/rear.
Shorter tires will also change the gearing a bit. Depending on the course, the lower gearing this gives may be a good or bad thing. You may have to shift to third more often, but you also might give yourself a bit more acceleration out of turns.
Carter and Jim Thompson run 275s on stock width wheels. Obviously, that isn't recommended due to the width of the stock wheels for road use, but I can pretty much assume that they are much better drivers than I am and if they haven't had a problem in autox with the geforces they put on the tires, I won't
They've done a lot of work to set up their car, and I'm tempted to get the same width. I might go down to 265s, though. I'll have to decide.
Traction control/VDC issues are irrelevant to me in autox. The only thing that matters with the stagger is the ABS, but I don't think it is really something to worry about.

OK, not sure exactly what racerjsz is referring to, but the Z does not come with 8" and 9" wide rims.
We have
17" x 7.5" front
17" x 8" rear
18" x 8" all around (normal 18" wheels)
18" x 8" front (track)
18" x 8.5" rear (track)
Here's the page from the manual
Now, I'm running Enkei RPO2-J in my stock sizes (18 x 8 x 35mm offset - you are allowed a 1/4" allowance on the offset). I run Kumho Ecsta V700 265/35-18's all around. Helps balance the car, but still understeers.

Sorry Guys - my post was for aftermarket wheels. I was passing along valuable info that it took me weeks to uncover. With the 245's on the front you won't have understeer - it turns in great! These Black Racing N1 Pros are for sale with like new Kuhmos. I'd be willing to bet there isn't a Z out there with the same size front and rears that can hang with me! 17's will not produce the understeer - trust me they're faster!

Yeah, 7 or 8 national championships don't mean crap if you have the right tire size

I'll repeat, Carter and Jim are running 17s, 275s all around in BS class (read 17 x 7.5s up front, 17 x 8s rear). Also see the SCC article where they put the Z up to over 1g on the skidpad with no understeer on street tires by going to the same sized tires all around (275s), upgraded sways, and a better LSD.
Putting my mod hat on though, racerjsz, please stop telling everybody everywhere you have wheels for sale. We get it. Keep that in the classified section.
