Sine these will be my track day wheels only...I am thinking some kind of slicks?? but have to be inexpensive...
or any other suggestions?

There are several threads on this subject in the AutoX / Road Racing forum.
Don't know anybody who has used those tires. Seems like you're trying to stuff too much rubber on that rim, which isn't that wide.

that Sumitomo is not a track tire, it's a street tire... it will work, but it's not an R-compound tire...
if you need to use the wheels/tires to get to the track, then use the Yokohama AO32R or TOYO T1-S, both will get you to and from the track and give you more grip than a street tire
if you have a way to haul the wheels/tires to the track, look at Hoosiers... the most grip available, but not a street tire
Unfortunaltely... "inexpensive" and "track tires" usually are not found together... Hoosiers will run you about $225 or more per tire and they only last two weekends tops... I bought four 275-40-17 Yokohama AO32Rs and paid $275 per tire... The TOYOs are not much cheaper....
Also, avoid Kumho track tires for open track events... I used the Victoracer and two brand new front tires lasted me less than two days at the track... the Z is too heavy and the way I drive generates too much heat for the Kumho... they are good on auto-x, but not on the track (unless you have a Miata!)
Hope that helps,
PeteH

I'm running 255/45/17 frt, 275/40/17 rear Toyo RA-1's as my track wheels (on aftermarket Enkei RPF1's). I think it would be fine if you ran the 255's all around on the stock 17's.
Price wise, go to Vilven tire or aimtire.com for the best prices. I think I paid around $150.00 per tire for the 255's. Every other place I checked wanted over $200.00 per.
Good luck out there!

wow! thanks for all of the info.. this is so hard to decide...
I am still leaning toward the Kuhmo after reading good reviews on them in this forum.. since it's my first time at Laguna(not my first track day)... i think i will take it easy and enjoy the scene!

I bought the hard compound AO32R and that seems to have been a very good decision. When I used Kumho Victoracers, they lasted one weekend.
