Cool What is your weapon of choice for making that polished lip shine?

I wanted to get some feedback from all of you with wheels that have an aluminum polished lip (no clearcoat). What do you use to keep them shiny? What do you use to keep them protected? How do you keep them clean in between washes?

I recently acquired some 18" RO_JA Formula 5 wheels. As you know its a 2-piece forged wheel with a polished spun aluminum barrel. I want to be able to keep the lip shiny and scratch free. I also want to be able to polish them with ease. I don't want to have to dab a cotton towel in a polish and rub small sections. That seems time consuming. I'm thinking maybe the Eagle One polish with the cotton wadding.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Tips?

if the lip is not clearcoated, use wenol polish. i haven't found anything better.

mother's, and the stuff you can buy at the auto parts shops is trash. you can polish your pots and pans with it. search the net for wenol, and buy the red tube and the blue tube.

I'm looking for stuff as well. I just got my iForged wheels and I can see hairline scratches already in the polished lip.

Don't polish your clearcoated lips. They have a clearcoat on them, so you would treat them just like you would your paint. You can put a good synethic wax on them to make them shine, though. If your lips don't have the clearcoat, then polish away, mothers billet polish is pretty good.

there is a product called zoopseal that is unbelievable. i used it on my raw polished aluminum race wheels on my mustang. the 1st 6 months i owned them i was polishing them once every few weeks trying to keep them looking like brand new. then i heard about the zoopseal that claimed to seal the polished wheel for up to 2 years w/o the need to repolish. i was skeptical but purchased the kit. it worked wonderfully. i used my regular polish at the time wich was 200mph polish then the zoopseal kit. the zoop seal is a sealant used once the wheel is polished. so if your wheels are new now is the time to get it.... i never polished my wheels again for the next year, i then sold my car with the same polished wheels from the polish i used 1 year previously! the stuff is pricey, i paid like $95 for the kit but its worth it! i just washed the wheels with my current car soap while washing the car & they always looked shiney! search around the web, its been about a year or so since i 1st heard of the product, it may be cheaper now......heres an info site:

the wenol is about 8 bucks a tube, but the key to polishing it is the rag that you use. the lips of my iforged wheels are so shiny, that a standard cotton rag is too rough, and will scratch it. i use the yellow flannel rags with the red stitching from home depot or any auto store.

the red wenol is used when they are really dirty, or after it rains. then you put on the blue which is to get them really shiny. i bought a three pack kit that included a pink wax as well. you put it on after you polish, and it seals it in.

I'm only referring to wheels that DO NOT have a clearcoat.

I tried the billet polish and was not heavily impressed. I may try the Eagle One mag and aluminum polish.

Are you guys finding yourselves polishing after every wash or rain?

yeah zoopseal is all over the place on the internet now, i purchased it way back when they 1st started advertising it & dealers were limited. if the wenol product(kit) is exspensive like the zoopseal then i dont feel bad, the zoop worked great & truely lasts a long time. if the wenol is much less costly then it is probably the way to go, it sounds like a great product!

i live in san diego, so the worst weather my car sees is when i wash it. i haven't even opened the sealer yet, but the wheels look great without it.

Well I went and bought the Eagle One Nevr-Dull polish. Ripped a small piece and went to town. Was not impressed at ALL. I still saw minor hairline scratches. Decided to resort back to the Mothers polish on that same area. Applied with a mf towel and what a BIG difference. The mothers removed most of the scratches. I think a coat or two more and a little elbow grease I could get it looking immaculate.
