drag radials? opinions?
best as in what exactly? if your talking about wich has the stickiest compound & has the best traction capabilities for straightline i would say BFG. if your talking about wich adds better dry traction(than conventional tires) & still maintains good wet traction for a possible daily driver or for tire that will stay on the car untill fully warn i would say nitto. the nittos will last a tad longer since the compound isnt as soft as BFG's, also the nitto has a slightly firmer sidewall so the car can still handle pretty good w/o too much carcass flex in the corners. i have not personally used the yokos so i cant comment on those. honestly though, you will feel a deffinate difference with all of them over your stock or non drag compound tires as far as straightline traction goes. this is my opinion as i have used both the BFG's & the Nittos. hope this helped! just to add i didnt use these tires on my 350z. i used the Nittos on both my 300zx tt & my supercharged mustang & used the BFG's on my mustang only. the Nittos on my 300zx tt were on 16" wheels & on both 17" & 15" wheels on my mustang. the BFG's were used on 15" wheels only on my mustang. i used the drag radials for 1/4 mi straightline drag racing, not for auto-x.............

thanks myz8a4re
id like to get some that would fit on my 19s and possible use as a daily driven tire, but if not id probably get some 17s and put some 275/40-17s on there for trips to the track.

tig48, if you go with a 17" drag tire you will reap much better benefits over the 19" drag tire. much more sidewall wich is the main key to traction. if you opt to go with the 17's deffinately go with the BFG's you'll love 'em. if you go with the 19's go with the nittos. the nice thing is you can still roll the tires for drifting easily. it takes a nice few second burnout to make the nice & sticky. they still stick better even when not heated but when you do you'll be surprised. depending on your mods you can probably do an even 3k clutch drop & roll into the gas w/o spinning in 1st & then not even be able to chirp 2nd when heated properly....easily worth a few tenths if you can drive pretty good!

i have a set of '03 cobra rims sitting here with some 275/40/17 nittos drag radials on them that i used on my mustang before the drag rims. the bolt pattern is the same between nissan & ford 5lug plus ford runs a 24mm offset wich will work nicely on the z so i can throw them on next time out to the track.....may give it a whirl & see how the z does. i do still have the stock clutch in the z wich i believe will be my weak link. ill have to see what happens..........
wich by the way is a cheap alternative for a drag wheel for those that want 17's with a drag radial for track days only. any stock 95 to present 5 lug mustang wheel will fit the z. some are 9" wide & can easily hold a 275/40/17 & make a nice footprint. most are 17" by 8" wide wich will suffice with the nittos since the nittos run a tad narrow compared to other drag radial brands. the older gt's even used 16" wheels wich will allow a cheaper drag tire & even more sidewall for serious traction.............best of luck!

thanks, im running the vortech sc, with some test pipes, and injen exhaust, ill probably go with the 17s,
oh yeah, as far as the mustang wheels are concerned, have you put them on the z yet, if you have and everything worked thats cool, but if you havent, i wouldnt, a friend of mine has a G and has some old mustang rims with drag radials on them, he put them on his G and I dont know what happened but it totally screwed up something, his studs were destroyed, he had to get new studs put in. i dont know if he did something or if it was the rims, but somehow something went wrong. he was told it was the mustang rims.
