Help! Something's eating the clearcoat on my rims...
I've been extremely careful with my new rims. Haven't used any kind of brake dust cleaner on them; just mr clean's auto dry car wash soap and armor all tire foam to dress up the tires. Never wash them while they're hot...etc etc..yesterday i noticed spots on the inside of my rims (not the lip) that looked like water spots. when i tried to wipe them off it appears that the clear coat on the rim has been eaten away where the spots are. They look like acid rain spots. Found it on 3 out of 4 rims. It's not really noticeable yet, but i want to figure out what did this so it doesn't happen again.
Any ideas?
btw could salt water cause this? i had my car at the beach last week.

hmm...my rims had the same problem...dont know EXACTLY what did it but im pretty sure it was the snow salt all over the roads during the winter
so it MIGHT be the salt water..but i doubt it unless axis uses a really crappy clearcoat
