Default Z roll bar... what's inside?

Does anyone know if the rear roll bar with the Z emblem on it contains a tubular frame rollbar or what? I'm asking because I'm thinking of replacing it with an aftermarket one to improve stifness + reduce weight by dumping all that plastic.
Any help appreciated...

Tis not a roll bar, but a strut bar. Tis not tubular.

I don't see how an aftermarket one could increase stiffness as the stock piece is already very big and beefy. You cannot remove it as it is welded onto the frame.

If you do a search (try rear strut bar as your key words maybe) someone posted pics of theirs all torn down. It is a LOT of metal and next to impossible to remove without a power saw that cuts metal. Not sure why you would want to remove it though.

i dont think he saying he wants to remove the strut bar altogether. it looks a though he thought the factory bar wasnt up to par & could possibly be upgraded to a stronger piece. then he wanted to ditch the plastic surroundings....this is what i interpreted. but now he knows, its not up-gradeable or even removeable as well as nontubular........

MyZ8a4re got me right, that is what i meant.
Thanks for the pick Mike. I guess it's not an option. Now that I see whats under that plastic, an upgrade does not seem necessary...

Maybe I'll consider a sway bar instead.

Again, thanks for the info.

BTW Mike, I thought an anti-roll bar and a strut bar were the same thing, am I mistaken?

Anti-roll is typically reserved for the sway bar, which is found under the car.

The strut bar, is just that... a bar which ties the two struts together.

Our rearbar, is far beyond a strut bar... it's part of the chassis all together.
