Ways to get under the car safely???
Hi,
I just recieved my test pipes and i want to install them myself to save money. My question is regarding how I would be able to gain access to the underside of my Z. Would the jack that comes with the car lift the car enough and safely to install the pipes or is there another way.
This is probably a stupid question but forgive me.

Go and buy a low profile jack and a pair or two of quality jack stands. I prefer ramps myself but that's just me. You will end up spending more on those pieces than you would paying someone to put on the TPs for you. But you need those pieces for a bunch of other routine tasks as well so its worth it.
You really just need to lift one side at a time to do it, not the whole front.

Since you were even considering crawling under a car with just the factory jack holding it up....you should have someone else install them. Paying $75 is better than paying the hospital or funeral home bill.

Okay op,
honestly sounds like you should pay a shop, but if you insist on doing it yourself, then take the advice given above...
Now for the picture above on post #11:
I cant stand that picture .........the really bad chop work on it is one thing, especially toward the rear of the car......
But the jack points up front are HORRIBLE!!! for one look at the right side top point they are using to jack up at(when looking at pic) --- which is in turn the passenger side front.
YOU DO NOT JACK "ON" or near fuel lines -----uuumm Kay?!
Those are not the correct front jack points. consult your owners manual or download the FSM (factory service manual)

Trust me its a pain to do it without a lift. \Tried doing mine on ramps and theres not much room to work with and getting up by the headers will be a pita. If you know someone who works at a shop get it on the lift you wont regret it.
