My good friend had a 350Z and traded it in for a 04 TL 6-speed. I thought he was crazy, but he wanted more room and more luxury very much like you. He's happy with the choice, but he never really cared about sporty driving anyway.

I've driven his car numerous times and we actually took a road trip to Detroit from NYC for the car show this past weekend.

The TL is very comfortable, the stereo and navigation system are awesome. Interior fit and finish is nice as well. It's a nice looking car outside as well, but it's a dime a dozen here in the NY/CT area.

Driving it is another story though. I owned a Acura CL-S before my Z and driving the TL brought back some bad memories. The CL was smooth and pewrrt powerful but just not a lot of fun to drive. The first issue with the TL is that it's FWD. The torque steer is terrible and the car just feels very front heavy. In addition, they put so much sound deadening inside it's almost impossible to hear the engine. Definitely quieter than my CL. It's nice for a long road trip, but it gets boring during spirited driving.

Overall, it's a very nice car, but compared to the Z, it's definitely a snoozer. I've driven the G35 which is much more fun to drive, but not nearly as nice inside. Difficult choice.

My better half drives a '03 TL, I drive the '05 Z. It is like comparing apples to oranges.
'Nuff said.
