I will change oil and filter at 1000 miles with regular dino oil.

At 3000 I will switch to synthetic (probably Royal Purple, good stuff).

You will hear differing theories on this, but I've followed the above with other new cars and never had a problem.

Synthetic is some pretty awesome stuff as far as the properties but it still gets just as dirty as dino so I keep the changing intervals at 3000 miles. It just changes a $10 oil change into a $25 oil change.

I think thats what i will do. I hear that you should break in your car w/ fossil oil, then after that do what you want.

My old Z engine, when i redid it (put cams & pistons in) i changed the oil every 300 miles for the first 12oo miles, then went to normal 2800mi. interval.

I think I'll stick with thetic. I've been using synthetic in my old car and it's pointless: higher cost, same effect.

I've used Mobil 1 on my S2000 and RC51 since break-in was complete. My trucks gets dino oil, as does my CRF450R (Castrol 10W40), since it gets changed so frequently.

My oil change intervals are 3K miles (4 wheeled vehicles), 2K miles (RC51), and every 2 rides (~4 hrs.) for the CRF.
