Default Help! I’m thinking about selling my Z!

I’ve had it for a year now and I really like this car. The car just seems to get me in to much trouble. In this past year I’ve been stopped twice – ticketed once and I’ve been in one accident where the idiot in front of me slammed on his brakes to screw me. He was a complete jerk and made reference to the car I was driving. I had just put snow tires on the car and the roads were slick. The snow tires didn’t do a darn thing and I slid down the hill. He saw me sliding and slammed on his brakes.

I just turned 40 years old and have been driving since I was 18. I’ve had a few tickets in the past but nothing ever like this. My driving hasn’t changed. I’ve had fast cars in the past. If this keeps up I won’t have a license in a couple years.

I have a radar detector which apparently doesn’t work. The police won’t leave me alone, other drivers on the road are jealous and ignorant, this world basically sucks! I guess I have to drive a Saturn and blend in.

man dude, sad story!!!! feel for ya. i guess it is all luck of the draw. i too get the increased attention, but in all positive ways. i get people that get out of my way so i can pass them, just so they can check the car out. also the three times i have been pulled over the car has actually gotten me out of the ticket every time. one time the cop just wanted to check the car out, sit in it etc.. (funny i know), and the other times i was able to use the excuse of "having a rare nice day in the winter, so i just wanted to let loose for a little bit" and the cop let me off both times.

am i trying to rub anything in?? no. did i just probably jinx the crap outa myself?? probably. but what i am trying to say is its all luck, good or bad. just stick with it man. it is bound to turn around. dont get rid of the car. wait a month or so, and when that spring weather comes, and you can start to cruise around again with the windows down, you will forget about all of this!!!

keep your head up!!!!

sounds like you just need to slow down and don't follow too close.....the Z probably had nothing to do with it.

I don’t know about you, but after driving a Z, I think it would be pretty difficult to go back to a car like a Saturn. I drove my girlfriend’s car the other day, and I swear it made me appreciate my Z more.

Check out this thread for a quick upper on your car https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=112049

Agreed. It sounds like you have a control problem. Recently, I've gotten into a few tickets myself and now I drive much slower. As for the snow tires, they aren't the end all solution to driving in snow or ice. Driving like an idiot tailgaiting will get you in trouble no matter what the weather is like.

Too tell you honestly, it's not the Z's fault. It's the person who needs to adjust himself when it comes to speeding and other things. I think this is called road rage. Good example would be if you had a loaded gun and no one touches it will not go off by itself. Your in control of the gas pedal and steering wheel; however, when it comes to bad weather that is a different story, I take the bus/train. I'm not worried about myself but other fools out there that are overly confident!

I’ve been driving for quite, I’m a very experienced driver. I don’t really need advice in that aspect, proper distance, speeding etc. I’ve owned fast and even rare exotic automobiles that have drawn more attention than the Z. I’ve never had a streak like this though.

I forgot I’ve been pulled over three times with one ticket. Here’s another example. Last summer I was pulled over on 76 heading towards philly. My boss was following behind me, we both live in NJ. Traffic was heavy. 76 is really dangerous road, everyone just flies. I was in the middle lane, just keeping up with traffic and speeding. My radar detector went off, I saw the cop, just kept things steady. The cops lights went on and he pulled both of us over. He visits me first and says “What are you guys racing!” Well no officer, I’m just keeping up with traffic. He let both us us go. Just another example of being singled out. Friday night when I was pulled over and ticketed I was again singled out. Just keeping up with traffic. I have a clean record, no points until Friday.

We all speed. How about a Altima SER. Test drove one yesterday, nice car. Still a fast car though, no saturn.

You’ve got to be kidding “Road Rage.” I have a different definition of road rage. Speeding is not included. I travel the most dangerous roads in this area to get to and from work, I’ve seen road rage.

Thats funny, I am in your same boat. I have gotten pulled over and given more tickets with this car. I think cops hate imports. I drove a WS6 before, that I illegally street raced two nights a week almost every week. I would constantly be speeding/racing you could hear me a mile away but yet I never got a ticket. There was no need for a radar detector.

Now with the Z its like, leave me alone. I just got a radar detector and it works awesome. Wish I had it when I first got the car.

Try moving somewhere else. NJ is the worst place to drive in the US IMO

My car is pearl white. I thought that would help me hide under the radar.

Hi Denman,
Sorry you feel this way. I've had many rides in my life. 59 Thunderbird, 75 Vette, a few Celicas, 13 vehicles in all. 6 or 7 tickets etc. Am 69 now and plan to get an 05 touring. Had police follow me but most of the time never stopped. Had a few fender benders, and some jealousy incidents. I did learn something important. You have to learn every car you drive and know it's limits. Hang in there Bro and don't let the world bother you! ZRA

I was thinking color maybe but I also have the white one and havn't had any problems...

as far as FairladyZ's ride goes I would say it draws more attention than most Z's would. He and I were pulling out of a gas station once and our cars were side by side when a cop drove by in front of us. He slowed down as he passed me and just staired FairladyZ down even though we were in the same car basicly and I was the one w/o the front plate...

Both our cars are PPW but his has the Nismo graphics on it.
