Default Why should i buy a Z if...

WEll the thing is i really want a RSX type-S but the insurance on that car is freaking high, So i found out that the Z would be alot cheaper so i was thinking of going with a pre-owned certified 1 from the dealer , Probably a Black 6MT. But the only thing im worried about is the tranny. Iv bin doing some research on the "reparing" section of this forum and iv seeen alot of tranny problems ill be looking at a 2004 model or 2005 but, im worried about the tranny thats it.. wat do u guys say?

get it, the z is a much better car than any fwd honda. The transmission problems really arent as common as everyone makes it out to be on this site. I'd say you have a 10% chance of getting one that needs replacement. Unfortuantly i am one of those people and will be on my 3rd tranny soon.

Sounds like u really want the rsx, if you want it that then get it but there is nothing like a z. It still is a fwd honda no matter how you look at it. I dont think he was flamming just pointing it out

Honda's are not as reliable as everyone makes them out to be. The auto z's have no common problems. Theres been a failure here and there but nothing special.

Default no transmission probs whatsoever!

i have a 2004 "Z" and there are no transmission problems at all, it only happend on the 2003. and if there was a tranny problem, Nissan would cover it under warrantY, and look on the bright side, its a brand new tranny! get the Z, its a lot better in everyway (besides snow driving) than the Acura Type-S

Default Z is a different....

comparing the type-S Acura vs. a Z is a totally different comparison!
just my second .02 cents.

we`re not flaming the RSX.. that would be like me accusing you of flaming Z`s because you claim they have "bad trannys".. He was just pointing out a fact.

but anyway, not ALL z`s have the problem, just some. Also depends on how hard you drive it. Either car you get, prepare to have an incredibly high insurance rate [assuming you`re 16]

It is true, the 350z insurance is much cheaper then the rsx type-s. I currently own a type-s right now and insurance is roughly $300 cheaper. Im going to pick up a black base Z tommorrow, I love the RSX alot but the low end torque is killing me

That's funny because for me, the Z is about the most expensive insurance I can get since it's a 2-seater sports car. The jump from G35coupe was huge.

I traded a 2001 Prelude for the 2003 350Z in December of 2002.
The Prelude had less than 30k miles and it drank more oil than gas... It would go from max to low in about 1000 miles and i would have to add oil some times more than once in between oil changes (recommended and done every 2.5k miles)... The dealer monitored it and said that that consumption was within normal...

Anyway, i've had the Z for more than 2 years and it has over 40k miles... So far so good, no tranny problems at all (knock on wood) and after changing stock tires to S03s and 4 wheel alignment at around 15k miles no signs of any feathering either...

I think with any car/brand it's just luck!

word. you cant compare a sport compact car to a 350z. the rsx is obviously much better than a civic, but rsx, civic, celica are more comparable.

I've had very few problems w/ my Honda Prelude and I've had iit since brand new. Honda produces some of the most reliable vehicles on the market, next to Toyota and Subaru. I've never had any mechanical problems with mine and the only real problem I had was the auto-tensioner for the timing belt going out early at 75k miles.

As for insurance, a 2005 Track Z is $30/mo for me vs. the 2001 Prelude. Not bad at all.
