AUTO.com (DFP) article on 350z and Nissan

Interesting article that discusses the 350z as a halo car.
This also brings up the interesting point that pricing is low due to the weaker yen, but what would happen to the 350z pricing if they decide to manufacture it in the US (like the Altima). A 3.5L Altima SE 6 speed is priced at abour $21-22k, and we have to assume that they are making a decent profit from that. In the future they might feel that producing the 350z in the US is cheaper than shipping it from overseas.

doh... 350zpower, you did post it first.
Here's an interesting question:
If the 350Z (in about a year and a half) was produced in both Japan and the US, knowing that the US-built Altima quality surveys have been low, how would you feel if you could only buy one made in the US?

ALL WILL COME FROM JAPAN
I spoke to several Nissan representatives this past weekend at the Danville event and they stated that all future 350Z production will be shipped from Japan. They don't plan to manufacture it in the US.

Keep it built in Japan. History has proven that, unfortunately, we can't build cars as well as the Japanese can. I suspect it might be their work ethic, but we won't get into that now.

It is true that made in US Nissan is not as reliable as Japan, but I disagreed with you about US worker ethic. It is manufacturing process, worker training, motivation, incentive, quality control and management commitment that make the difference. Trust me, my company build multi-million dollar machine. Look at Honda and Toyota, all their US build cars ranked on top of Consumer Report Reliabililty survey. Their cars ranked higher than many Japanese made car like Isuzu.

LOL DROINDEKAUS.... Soo...true man. I was wondering why those CL-S' (2001 ) sell for about 23 grand when I know they cost more from the dealer.
And I also agree that the Z should stay Japan Built. Builting Z's in the US will domesticate them. Take away their spark! The beast is better wild! Don't tame it. LOL
