Be careful with your remote
I came down to my Z this morning and was quite shocked to see the windows rolled down. I guess that I must have pressed the button in my pocket long enough for the windows to roll down all the way. I always thought it was nice that I could arm the alarm from anywhere in my apt, and hear the reassuring honk, to make sure it was locked up, but maybe it isn't such a great thing after all.
A month ago, I accidentally set off the panic alarm on my truck while I was leaning up against the counter. I need to start taking my keys out fo my pocket when I am home....

I can get 100 feet, maybe more. my apartment is three levels, parking covered by living room/kitchen, covered by bedrooms, and I have no problem operating the remote from upstairs.

Mine depends, on an empty parking lot, I get about 100ft or so, but when there are other cars, I only get about 20-30ft. Also, is there a way to make the car not give off the horn when locking? It doesn't horn when unlocking.. which I think is weird, either honk on both, or none at all...

Nobody believes me until they try it. It really works with a lot of cars. I assume your head works as an antenna. If I have trouble with mine not working on my Grand Prix (say, I forget to hit it until I'm too far away), I just hold it up, and voila, lights blink!

If you hold down the lock and unlock buttons for 2+ seconds it switches between two different modes. check section 3-4 in your manual
these warnings remind me of Happy Fun Ball:
these warnings remind me of Happy Fun Ball:
- Do not allow the keyfob to become wet.
- Do not drop the keyfob.
- Do not yell at keyfob.
- Do not strike the keyfob sharply against another object.
- Do not place the keyfob for an extended period in an area where temperatures exceed 140°F (60°C).

the beeping setups is designed so you can be sure that your car is locked. no suprises, you and everyone else can know your car is locked.
but when unlocking, you dont want to broadcast totally and completely that your unlocking your car and that your car is the Z. yes the lights blink, but its not as obvious as a honk.
my moms mercedes never honks, it drives her nuts; she can never tell if the remote worked or not(which is a real problem since occasionally the remote wont work at all)
