Did I almost get ripped off?
Well my dealership finally got my car. (35th an., production car #19 according to the emblum inside.) I went to see it before they prepared it. To my suprise the car had 83km. (49 miles) , the car was full of swirl marks, and the engine was still warm.
The dealer replied that all black cars have swirl marks and that he would wax it. He also said that all Nissans that come from japan has around 50 km and the extra 23 km was when they drived it from another dealership to my dealership. I wasen't convinced and dropped the whole thing down.
Right now I feel really bad. I was all hyped up and ready to receive my Z this week. And I was getting a great deal on my lease. Instead I'm stuck with no car on the horizon and I have to return my IS300 july 6th.
Do you guys think I avoided getting ripped off or was I just overreacting?
To add insult to injury. there are no more 35th ann. left in all of Montreal. If I still want a Z I have to buy it from Toronto which is a 5 hour drive (as oposed to leasing it from Montreal) . Or to wait until the next shipment from japan gets here which is in September.

I didn't even catch that he was leasing the vehicle. If thats the case then who cares how many miles are on the car...and swirl marks are on just about every black Z. You can see them all too easily..not to mention Nissan's paint sucks. Why didnt you just let them clean the car up for you and then make your decision? I'm assuming you have never owned a black car before??

You should get over it... there's almost no reason not to take a car with 49 miles.
If you're worried about 49 miles, it's the same as if you're worried about 12 miles, 10 miles, 8 miles, etc. It's just your paranoia, and if there *is* anything wrong with the car, then just take it in for warranty service, or if it's serious, lemon law it.

just as people said, if you're leasing, the mileage isn't a problem.
As for my Z, it had 8 km on the odometer when I picked it up, and still had the protecting film on the car (whatever you call it), I told the dealership not to do anything when the Z arrives... it was a bit dirty but no swirls~

This is exactly why I did what I did:
- I originally wanted silver with orange interior. And all they had was black on black, I figured ok, no big deal black is still sexy.
-Then I see the car It's full of swirl marks. I really got pissed off. But the salesman calmed me down.
-Then I found out the car was driven from the other dealership to my dealership, instead of being towed. And 83km is a lot on a new car, most new cars are under 15 kms.
-And finally he wanted to increase the lease monthly payments by 16 $. According to him, the change of price was from Nissan (risidual value dropped), and since I haven't signed anything my quote could not have been kept.
It's the combination of all those small things that that got me to pull back.
After I calmed down, and I read what you guys had to say, I guess I was overreacting. For now, I'm going to wait for the dealer to call me and see what he has to say. As for my Toronto option, I have somebody there right now who is willing to buy the car under his companies name and ship here by train.

My 03 vin 334 had 32 miles on it. All tape still on. Every so many vehicles Nissan takes one and runs it through its paces to make sure its up to spec. I was told this was going to happen to mine and expected more than the 32 miles. It has had two problems since I purchased it. Tire feathering at 4500 and window motors. Everything else is dreamy!
