Just wondering, did you swap the stock brakes for G35 brembos? Is that what you meant? The high cost of doing so has prevented me from progressing to a non-regular brake system - I just changed the pads. Do you mean that the difference to you, between stock and brembos, is not worth the cost?

I have the NISMO and it is a great sounding exhaust, and it does suck with TPs (even with turbos strapped on).
hah wish I had taken the Maxima. Too bad I didn't fall to my best friends arguement of "well a 350z is just a maxima with 2 doors anyway" and gone on with life with 15 grand in my pocket.

Sorry I was unclear, ment to imply that I swapped the base brakes for the brembo brakes. The swap cost me 1200 dollars and an a slightly irrate girlfriend because I stayed up until 3 in the morning trying to bleed them.

Anyway, I used to fall to brake fade from time to time driving in the back roads but for the most part that was only an occasional thing. I also(burn me for being like this) did it for looks. Base brakes behind my Volks looked dull. All that to say, all I really got out of it in the end was better performance which I don't really need all the time. I could have had what I really wanted for the cost of some performance brake pads and maybe rotors. So yes, the cost difference between brembos and non-brembos is not worth it.

That is what I thought you meant. I don't track, and I really haven't had a fading problem, so I tried to use logic and not get an upgrade. But you are right, a BBK looks great behind the wheels. The price and no real upgrade for daily driving has kept me away, and your perception helps me to stay away. Thanks.

There is really no point to waste the money on a short ram when you can get the pop-charger. The stock Z tube is good enough.

Awesome thread..

This post has played a lot in my decision to hold off on any bolt on mods to my car. I was going to get a few, and still might (Nismo exhaust).. but for the most part, I think I will work on replacing the factory sound and get a few bling mods (rims, lip, side skirts)..

I have an extra engine now and will build this over time.. and when ready, do the swap with FI..

thanks for the info all.. much appreciated.

I guess I should put this in here since I ***** about it enough. I didn't like my Nismo exhaust after I added HFC's. Just way to droney around 3k rpm's.

maybey he means varis duct ? This thread is great it allows u to pick and choose mods wisely ,....the only thing retarted was a jwt popcharger for me cause, ...i had no use for it on my revup gave it away with the car, the velocity stacks on the new intake are excellent . So theres really no need for a pop charger ...i might do a varis intake not sure though but havent seen it on 06s yet

I regret straight through test pipes. I went with dc headers, test pipes, and stillen t.d. exhaust. felt the power with all mods on, but after a week or so the raspyiness of the test pipes annoyed the s*** out of me. now I dont feel quite as much pull or hear it as loud, but the sound is fantastic. Also with the stillen exhaust, it was kinda hard to make it sound perfect. I jacked it up multiple times and adjusted it so it wouldn't rattle on the rear crossmember or the rear swaybar. After the mods, I couldnt be happier.

Default Regret 19" wheels/tires and Greddy blue

I put a greddy blue in my Z and it was calibrated too rich. The dealership that installed it couldn't correct it and it ended up dumping gas in my cats, which caught on fire while I was on a road trip. Outstanding experience! Took months to find al the damage and get it back to stock performance. Also, they discovered my rear tires looked like my wheels were out of line and I had no choice but to replace with what they could find in Gallop, NM. Nice tires, but when I got back to Denver I was advised to go back to stock as custom sized wheels needed some expensive adjustments to the suspension or replace tires every few k miles!? Also, larger wheels are heavier, so they not only make for rougher ride but slower one, too!!

I don't regret getting the Touring. I plan on getting a BBK in the far future.

This is a good list! I've made my plan after going through it. Do all the cosmetic mods first and forget about mechanical mods. Just save that money on CAI, Exhaust, etc and just get supercharger or turbo kit!
