supposedly fixed on the 2005's......an older one will still have the potential for the feathering problem.

Don't buy a Z. Too many problems. Of course, there are people who say that they've had no or few problems. But, why gamble with your money? Chances are you'll have some kind of problems.

so far every thing i can gather is, check the production date on the door.

some peopel have 5.04's wich i guess mean 5th month of 2004.

Mines a 2005 and production date says 9th month of 2004.

My guess is get something same producation date as me (or better), i havent seen any one with a newer one comlain yet about tire feathering.

If your that fearfull get a 2006, its only a 6 month wait or less.

Keep in mind, i dont know alot and im a novice at these cars, i only know what i read from here. so take every thing i say with a grain of salt.

Many of us have 03s with few or no problems but if I was buying a used one at this point I think I'd be looking at an 04.

And have a good mechanic check it out!

Used ones being sold I'd be cautious about. 70% of the time people sell their cars because of the maintenence costs, and the trouble they're having with their cars. I'd look into getting an 04 or 05 instead where's less reports of problems that the 03s had.

I have a used 2003 that got repaired for the feathering issue at the 10K mile point. I now have 13.5K miles and do not see any unusual wear on the tires.

I also work with another 2003 Z owner who got the repairs done at approximately the same amount of miles and now has 23K miles on his car without any issues.

All repairs were done free of charge by Nissan.
