Default Q: Ground Kit Install ?????????????

Hi, i am thinking to DIY a ground kit, someone told me to install a way that is different than the website i read here, which one is better can someone tell me. thanks. (btw, my friend's car install the first one, and can feel a little different, and smoother)

1. battary negative to left chassis.
2. battary negative to cylinder head.
3. cylinder head to intake manifold.
4. intake manifold to alternator.
5. intake manifold to right chassis.

and can someone tell me how can i get to alternator?

Here is i read from the this web.
#1 - 16" - Left side of intake manifold to front of the engine.
#2 - 20" - Left side of intake manifold to left side chassis ground.
#3 - 26" - Left side of intake manifold to the negative connection of battery.
#4 - 30" - Rear left of intake manifold to front of engine.
#5 - 32" - Rear right of intake manifold to front of engine.

which one is better. thanks.

There's probably not a whole lot of difference between either configuration. You probably wouldn't feel or be able to measure it if there was any.

Did you use these instructions?
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&threadid=9286

You can also find some instructions from:

A lot of people have bought the Z-Xtreme kit, myself included. I have seen a few that have made their own, from the instructions here on My350z. I've never really seen much of a discussion over whether one is better than another.

The HP gains are miniscule, the smoother idle is subjective and difficult to measure. It really boils down to looks for a lot of us. Sorry I can't offer a better argument for one versus the other.

you think you are smart?
then why pick a HKS, or nismo muffler instead of walmart one? there is just a little different right +- 3 hp something like that right?
and why you pick a gold wire for your home stereo system instead of cheap wires. think about it.

I think xNeo was asking: "What does the ground kit actually do for the car?". Your post, to me, seems to be flaming him for asking a question about a mod that he did not know the function of, and it seems rude to flame him for that.

Maybe I'm wrong and misinterperted your post, and if so, I apologize, but I honestly think that he, like myself, does not know what putting this mod on your car will actually do. He was not trying to be a smart-***, he was simply wanting to know.

Yeah, thats exactly it. I know what exhaust does and or air intake, just have no idea what a grounding kit does. Not being 'smart' thats why I said newbie question...

The grounding kit is, in theory, supposed to improve the electrical flow to ground by providing a better path to ground via many points on the engine. They claim it improves HP.

In reality, it doesnt do anything.

I see a lot of people feel this is a worthless mod but when you listen to people who have actually done it you realise that it does do something.

My understanding is that Bigger cable = lower resistance = less voltage drop. I also understand that after doing the mod there is a lot smoother idle.

People who have done it have pretty much all said that they feel a difference and don't have any complaints about doing it.

The reason they're saying they feel a difference is that they want to feel a difference. So they psyche themselves into believing that there is a difference. I have a ground kit on my Z. It never did anything good or bad that I've noticed.

Just for information, is there any information saying the electrical design for the Z is not grounded properly? Or is this grounding kit available for all cars that are modded?

And most of the electrical systems in the Z run on 12V if I am not wrong, except for ignition system and we have coil on plugs, so that makes it even less effective. So is there really a need for thicker cable for lesser resistance. Engine is grounded from what I know, if it didnt, then spark plugs wont spark in the cylinders.
