Default Need Help!! 6SPD or Touring??

Hey i'm getting rid of my Lexus IS300 for a 350Z, right now its a E-shift Auto because my wife uses it as a daily driver. She's never really driven a standard, if I got the touring model to start modding would I regret it in the end??? Or should I get the 6 spd and teach her how to drive it. Oh and we live in Canada so it will be driven in the winter, on winter tires of course. Just looking for some input from people who may have driven the auto and the stick. And if the sport shift on the auto is pretty responsive. Thanks, Justin.

Why not get the 6 spd Touring? And find a friend with a POS standard you can teach your wife on. Hell, for that matter you could just buy a completely crapped out car for under $1000 with a 5 spd to teach your wife. I'm sure there are plenty of old, rusted out Subarus up north with manual transmissions going for peanuts in the classifieds.

definitley buy a beater car especially in Canada. I bought a 95 corolla as a daily driver for $1500. I have had it 2 years, runs great, keeps the miles off the Z as well as the slush and salt. also, the Z is NOT a hard car to learn manual on. Very forgiving.

you'll drive your Z in the winter in EDMONTON?!?!?

I'd say buy the 6 speed and she can learn, but I'm currently trying to teach 17 yr old son to drive a stick... and some days it ain't pretty

On the other hand, a sports car thats an automatic?? *shudders*

*coin toss*

Good luck, and let us know what you decide

I realize this is heresy on here but I'd go with auto given the facts you posted.

Default 6spd

If your interested, I am selling my 350z performance model so I can get into a house in this pathetic market... sad day for me. Lemans Sunset in color.... I have winter tires on it right now... Winter has been easy for us so far but overall the car handles well in snow...

I understand about your initial question, 6MT or Touring. As I was searching for the car I wanted, there was not a Touring available in the US for sale or one even on order in the next 30 days that had the equipment I wanted. Nearly all Tourings seem to be automatic b/c they are "higher end" cost cars more likely to be driven by those with families vs. teenagers looking for the hottest car on the road. And since I also wanted navi and xm on the car, this was a definite custom order from Japan.

Ordered it last Holloween, still waiting until the middle of January for delivery

hmm i dont know about that... i drove a stick for nearly 4 years and when i test drove the Z for the first time, i almost stalled since the clutch was so quick. and plus going into 2nd gear for sure will have a jerk or something to it. id rather have my gf learn on a honda or something. hondas are easier to learn the basics on.

I bought the 6MT Touring, Lemans Sunset with burnt orange seats (GO LONGHORNS) the navi, xm, kickplates and splash guards.

BUT THEN IF THE ADMISTRATORS WOULD ALLOW SIGS YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT

I don't mean to burn our administrators. I am sure they took the sigs down temporarily for a good reason. BTW, when she finally arrives in two weeks it will be my daily driver and my wife will only get lessons on driving for emergencies or for moving it in the driveway if she is in the way of another car.

Don't worry about the AT stigma, it doesn't make you a woos as some would have you believe. It just means that you made another of the thousands of compromises we always make to keep our marriage a happy one (25 years for me next week--the Z is a present from her!)
