Exclamation Brakes and clutch noises??

I have an 03z, I just bought it about 4 months ago. The car is great, but I do hear some strange noises. When I hit the brakes, I sometimes hear a click come from the caliper, is this normal? Also, when I push my clutch in, its sounds like the cable is creeking, is this normal also? Thanks guys.

my clutch sqeaks and creeks as well, but I'm not sure if it is normal or not.. As far as your brakes... I would have them professionally checked out since it's an early model Z.

there's all kinda noises coming from clutch it seems...especially after a long drive, park your car in a quiet place roll your windows down, put your brake on and listen to the noise coming from your tranny...all kinda rattling noises.....

but another thing, try this....if you have a 6speed,before you turn off your car, either open your windows or door, turn off your radio and a/c, put your car in neutral (remember to set your parking brake), make sure you have your foot off the clutch pedal and turn off the engine, do you hear like a clanking/rattling noise coming from your engine/tranny? My buddy the service advisor at Nissan said it's normal and it's the sound of the tranny slowing down...anyone having same experiece?

I just scheduled an appointment for next Tuesday to have it looked at. The dealer said the clutch should not make any noise. I'll keep you all informed.

Thanks guys

The click is the pads sliding a bit and knocking against the caliper. There is a little free play in there. Should only happen when reversing direction. Try this in a parking lot with your windows down, radio off, and girlfriend occupied: put it in first and creep forward, lightly touch the brakes and stop. Then put it in reverse and creep back. Lightly touch the brakes - "click." The pads were as far "forward" as they could get in the calipers from the forward stop. Not sure if that's what you're talking about, but when I changed pads, there was some play in them. Don't know about the clutch but I do get chattering, especially when cold.

i got my brand new Z two weeks ago,. and i have the same problem too. when i change gear in slow speed (like in the parking lot). im not so sure but i think i hear noises from the clutch or maybe from the tranny. especially when i go home 3 in the morning, cuz it's so quiet, i almost hear the coolant boiling in the radiator

yye, i get the same sound too...freakin annoying. Kinda embarassing somethimes when im pullin up a drive through and and makes a clanking/rattling sound infront of alot of poeple. It makes them think that i grinded the gear or my tranny is screwed up. Rattling in neutral is alose annoying. It echoes when ur next to a parked car or a wall. The rattling goes away when i step on the clutch all the way. Kinda retarted but i love the damn car!

When I start to pull away in first gear i hear this sound coming out of the bottom of my car. Sounds like coins rattling in your hand and it only lasts for a quick second. My co-workers say that they notice it and I should get it looked at. You guys experience this type of sound?

You might wanna finess your foot off of the clutch better and maybe apply a tad bit more gas. What you're describing sounds like "clutch chatter". A lot of other cars with worn out clutches do this when the flywheel is unevenly worn, and the driver engages the clutch with then cause the car to skip and make a clattering noise. The same goes for inappropriatly letting out the clutch with not enough acceleration. The tranny/clutch is basical "clattering". I do this sometimes also. Just easy into the clutch smoother.
