Default 2 usual questions from noobie

Hello, you guys!

Know that's a bit usual questions here I want to ask, but please could you give me quick answer please.

I considering z350 2002 (since october) or 2003 model to buy

but i have a 2 things i always think about

1. MT or AT .
I had owned 4 cars before and them all were AT .
I drove MT only in Driver School about 4 years ago.
I understand that z is more supposed to be with MT than with AT.

I courios if Z with MT is good car to start learning MT with.
and i heard that Z's 6000 revs are slightly not enough for MT , is that's right?

2. 2003/2002
I really dont want to buy new car coz it's cost about 60k$ here
and i considering 2003/2002

do 2002/2003 versions have a somekind of annoying problems ?
(except usual fithering and gridning)
i really dont want to spend whole time in car-service

thanks you guys!

Z is an easy car to drive with MT because of it's wide torque band, so if that's what you want go for it!

Learning to drive MT on the Zzzz is fine; several on here have done it. And I taught my son to drive MT on my Z.

The engine is plenty strong; very wide power band.

I would get a 2004 or later; less chance of problems.

MT is my preference. I've got an 03 and the only problem I've experienced was the tire feathering recall which was taken care of by the previous owner back in Aug 04. I'm sure you can find a great deal on an 03 or 04 with low miles on cars.com; that's where I found my base 03 with 7K miles, mint condition for only 23.5K. Good luck!

Smile Wow that's a lot of questions.

1. MT or AT

Both are great. If you plan on road racing or autocross, I recommend a manual transmission.

I courios if Z with MT is good car to start learning MT with.

I believe that the 350Z transmission-clutch is very forgiving of “mistakes.” Go for it!

do 2002/2003 versions have a somekind of annoying problems ?

You mean 2003 or 2004. Check Consumer Reports.

I thought that Z350 were developed since 2002/10 firstly in japan, please take a look at the attached image. this car is from USA (but made in japan due VIN).

I've heard that first transmission gear is very short, so i wonder is it's very annoying to drive in traffice ?

Production date and model years differ. Enthusiasts talk model years: 2003, 2004, 2005...

Manual transmission drivers will answer NO. Automatic transmission drivers will answer YES.

yeah MT in traffic isn't that bad. If it bothers you so much raise your idle and use only the clutch . I learned to drive MT on my Z in about a week (got it 2 weeks ago). Since then i only stall on steep hills... no good in traffic but u'll get used to it. Just get a lesson from someone whos been driving MT for like 10 years or so and u'll get the hang of it quick.

well i was driving a toyota celica 5mt as my first car..

that car was very easy to drive, the clutch was soft and was very easy to make the shifts smooth. departed from the celica and drove an AT for 2 years before getting in the Z. ive also driven many subaru, honda, and acura mt's and ive gotta say that the Z was the hardest to drive and the Z is the easiest to stall.. jus my experience

I have to agree that the Z is not an easy car to drive Manual in. The engagement travel is very limited despite the long clutch travel. I've been driving Manual for 8 years before this car, and it took me about a week to start not over reving before a normal take off. But manual is just fun IMO...you get more control of the car YOU ARE DRIVING in instead of having the CAR DRIVNG YOU. if you know what I mean. Good luck.

oh and I would get a 2004.5 or later due to numerous reported problems of the earlier models such as feathering, window grease, power window motors, etc etc...even though my 05 also has the window grease problem........=(

I agree with the above post. I've been driving a m/t car since i started driving (About 7 yrs now) and the Z is the hardest to get used to. The long clutch travel with the quick snap back is tricky, but once you get used to it, it's easy. After all, if my brother learned how to drive stick on a Ferrari, you can learn on a Z.
